Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 574

Donovan had been about to hang up on Gideon, but after a brief pause, he swiped to answer in front of Giselle. "Hello?"

"Where are you right now?" Gideon asked through the line. "We checked several possible locations near Cambria and came up empty. My dad said you went to an island. Do you have any clues?"

Donovan stayed quiet for a few seconds before replying, "I found her."

"You found her?"

Gideon thought he must have misheard. "Really? You found her? Where is she? Is she safe?"

In the past, Donovan would have ignored him completely and hung up. This time, he put the call on speaker, set the phone in front of Giselle, and said calmly, "Someone's worried about you. Tell him what's going on."

Giselle stiffened slightly at seeing Gideon's name on the screen.

"Gideon," she said, keeping her voice as steady as she could. "I'm in Haleona and I'm fine. Don't worry about me. You should go back home."

Hearing her voice firsthand finally eased the week-long anxiety that had been weighing on Gideon.

"I'm glad you're okay," he said.

Knowing she was now with Donovan, he felt no need to struggle over his frustration or try to understand why she had left without a word. It didn't matter anymore. What mattered most was that she was safe.

"Giselle, make sure you take your medication on time," Gideon continued. "Every dose must be taken; don't skip a single one. Your supply only lasts a month, so make sure to stock up at the hospital in advance."

Gideon hung up. Giselle returned the phone to Donovan, feeling slightly unsettled.

Donovan, however, seemed completely unaffected by the call. He paid no mind to Gideon's careful concern and casually placed the freshly prepared crab meat into Giselle's bowl. "Eat more. You're far too thin."

After the meal, Giselle busied herself helping Enya clear the table and wash the dishes. She even tidied up the cabin to avoid speaking to Donovan.

Donovan couldn't stand it any longer. He took her hand and said, "Stop doing all this work. Let's go to the beach and get some fresh air."

She had a few things she wanted to discuss with him, so she let him lead her out of the cabin.

It was sunset. The evening sky reflected on the sea, painting the water with breathtaking colors. The view was utterly enchanting.
