Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 632

After Gideon left, Giselle felt a ripple of emotions stir within her.

After all, this man had cared for her through her darkest days, standing by her for a whole year as she struggled to regain her independence. He had helped her rise from a helpless wreck, incapable of even basic self-care, to a functioning, independent person. The hardships they had endured together were something she would never forget.

However, gratitude and admiration couldn't be confused with love, no matter how close they had grown over the year.

To Giselle, Gideon was a kindred spirit with shared interests, a loyal confidant, a companion who understood her deeply, and a friend who supported her without question. Their bond could take any form of friendship, but it would never become romantic.

With Gideon, she felt steady and at ease. There was no heartache, no fear of loss, no restless longing, yet there was also none of the exhilaration, sweetness, or romantic sparks that made her heart race.

She finally understood that the one capable of truly moving her, the one whose every word and action could stir her emotions, was someone else entirely.

By the time she returned home, it was already 7:00 pm, but the memory of her meeting with Gideon still left her feeling uneasy.

Donovan noticed her unusual mood as she lay beside him and asked, "Is there something on your mind?"

Giselle paused for a few seconds before answering, "I met with Gideon at the clinic today. He brought me a new imported drug for epilepsy to try out."

Donovan's eyes darkened at her words, but he didn't overreact as he might have in the past. Instead, his voice carried a faint, teasing edge. "That's good."

The night passed, and the early hours of the morning came. After showering, they returned to bed, and Donovan quickly fell into a deep sleep. Even in slumber, he instinctively held her close to his chest, refusing to let go. If she rolled to the other side during the night, he would groggily pull her back without thought.

Giselle had grown used to resting her head against his arm, as if every night were filled with passionate intimacy. It felt as though they would never be apart again, as though they would spend the rest of their lives this way, endlessly happy.

The next day was the weekend. Donovan stayed in the lab instead of going to the office.

Giselle picked up the boxes of medication Gideon had given her. She had thought about asking Tony whether she should switch her prescription, but after considering it, she decided to head to the lab first and show them to Donovan.
