Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 645

The car finally came to a stop after the violent crash.

Speechless, Donovan steadied himself against the steering wheel and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Then he immediately turned to Giselle.

"Are you hurt?"

"No."

Giselle's heart was pounding, but she managed to stay calm. She used to race a lot and had experienced tire blowouts before, so the sudden accident didn't make her scream or panic. Only her heart rate picked up.

"How did the tire suddenly blow?" she wondered aloud.

After all, this was a luxury call worth several million. Its safety features were top-notch, and it never had a single issue. It was routinely serviced. The road had been smooth the entire way, so a sudden malfunction made no sense.

Cars were already piling up around them, but Donovan wasn't in the mood to deal with such a trivial matter. It was a waste of his time and effort.

He pulled out his phone, and his first instinct was to call Benjamin. But the moment he scrolled to that familiar number, he froze. The emptiness in his chest hit him hard.

For years, whenever something happened outside of work, he always contacted Benjamin first. Benjamin would always handle everything impeccably according to his wishes, leaving him with nothing to worry about. All he had to do was listen to Benjamin's report afterward.

Now that Benjamin was gone, the weight of that loss came crashing down on him again.

A few hours later, before night fell, the man who tampered with their car was arrested. They met the culprit at the station, who was just an ordinary thug with past records of theft and assault.

He claimed he only tampered with their tire because he believed Donovan had deliberately cut him off in traffic, almost causing his car to overturn. He said he simply wanted to get even.

In the end, the man didn't cause any trouble. He agreed to five days of detention and was willing to pay compensation of a few thousand dollars.

Although the case was closed, Donovan walked out of the station with a deep frown. He had a strong feeling that things weren't that simple.

In other words, this wasn't some random stranger seeking petty revenge.
