Giselle asked him a few things about his time in Malithorn.

As they talked, she half-joked, "I told Donovan to keep an eye out for suitable girls around him. If he finds someone appropriate, he can introduce her to you as your girlfriend. That way, you can stay in Valanthea long-term."

At the word "girlfriend", Chris' expression faltered, and his mood visibly dipped. He quickly finished eating, then took the initiative to tidy up and went outside to throw away the trash.

Just as Giselle sat down to get back to work, she gradually felt some discomfort in her neck, like she'd slept on it wrong. She twisted it left and right, forward and back, but it still didn't feel right.

When Chris came back in and learned she had a stiff neck, he moved behind her. "How about I give it a massage?"

Giselle only ever treated him like a brother, so she didn't think much of it. "Sure, help me work it out."

Looking at her fair, delicate nape, Chris felt his heartbeat quicken. He quietly drew a deep breath and placed his hands on her. Once he found the right points, he skillfully started massaging her.

His movements were just the right pressure. If anything, they were gentle, as if he were afraid he might hurt her.

Giselle closed her eyes slightly, feeling his hands move. She didn't know what he was doing exactly, but the discomfort from the stiff neck really did ease a lot.

In this relaxed moment, the two of them didn't notice that a woman was standing outside the office door.

It was Anne. Her fixation wouldn't let her rest. After watching Chris drive off, she shadowed him all the way to the company, eventually planting herself right at the threshold of Giselle's office.

Chris hadn't closed the door properly when he came in, so it was left slightly ajar.

Anne stood outside like a ghost, peering through the crack. She happened to see Chris massaging Giselle's shoulders.
