Book3 Chapter19
Lee POV
Ambria hasn’t woken up yet and I have no idea how I am going to tell her. How was she going to deal with this and was
the news of her brothers death. My heart ached for her. So much death and pain tinged her life.
I had always wanted to shield the ugly realities of the world but it was impossible.
My eyes jerked to her face as her hand twitched in mine. After another moment her eyes fluttered open.
“Hey Angel.‘ I whispered touching her cheek. She stared at me and smiled softly.
“Lee. She croaked.
“Do you want some water?” I asked concerned. She nodded and I quickly filled a glass of water for her. I raised the head of her bed and held the cup to her lips letting her drink her fill.
When she was done I grasped her hand tightly and rubbed my thumb along her cold skin.
“I knew you would save me.‘ She whispered.
I looked away from her face pain and guilt assaulting me. I hadn’t saved her. She’d almost been killed because of me. I’d hesitated. I’d allowed her to be shot. I’d killed the chances of her having pups.
“Lee whats wrong.” She asked.
I closed my eyes pain engulfing me. I couldn’t keep this from her.
“When you were shot…it—Ambria I’m so sorry. The doctor said you won’t be able to have children.”
I opened my eyes to see her face pale. She closed her eyes but not one tear fell. I could feel the pain ripping through her but she didn’t allow it to consume her. She was trying to be strong.
“We can adopt can’t we Lee.‘ She whispered almost desperately. I grasped her face and nodded tears in my own eyes. “Of course we can Angel as many as you want.” She nodded and closed her eyes again but not before I saw the tears in them.
We’d adopt a hundred kids it made up for the pain she felt now. It was quiet between us for a long time and soon she fell into a restless sleep her face twisting in to grimaces and scowls.
In the next two days not much was said between us She smiled when she was suppose and talked when necessary but it was all empty. Her family could see this but said nothing not wanting to upset her more. When her parents told her about her brother she had no emotion She nodded and went on with what she had been doing. It was as if it hadn’t
effected her.
Her birthday was today and her and Lilly were up stairs getting ready. Everyone was getting the party together but I had

a feeling she wouldn’t even remember the party. Her mind had not been in the present since the day I told her and 1 regretted telling her ever since. If I had known it would cut her this deep I would have said nothing.

Lilly had dyed all the blue out my hair and I’d taken out my tongue piericng. I sat quietly as she curled my hair. Lyra had
entered a couple minutes ago and was now putting makeup on my face.
It was quiet.
I knew once I left this room I would have to put on a mask for the pack. I had to look happy.
