“Leo’s lips feel like heaven on mine and I love how his hand know just where..”

Seven lunged forward and knocked Valentina down. Valentina was laughing loudly holding the journal out of seven’s reach while while still trying to read it.

I held a hand over my mouth to stifle my giggles. I was currently sitting in Shadow’s lap his arms wrapped tightly around my waist. He didn’t speak much or show much emotion for that matter and by the looks of his family and pack mates this wasn’t the man they knew.

I didn’t know what to do but be there for him. He hated me being out of his sight and nearly tore a door down last week when I left our room in the middle of the night to get a glass water.

“Last night Leo grabbed me with his big warm hands from behind and bent me over and-” Valentina was laughing so hard now she had tears down her cheeks. Leo’s face was slightly pink and Luca was on the floor clutching his stomach in laughter.

Seven’s face was completely red now as she desperately fought Valentina for her journal.

“Fine fine I’ll give you your pictures back!” Seven screamed.

Valentina finally handed Seven her journal back still laughing.

Seven clutched her journal to her chest and ran out the room her face bright red.

“Im uh…going to go talk to her” Leo muttered his face still pink. He quickly left leaving us all in laughter well expect Shadow. Through the whole thing he’d ran his hand along my arms and legs, his fingers playing in my hair.

It hurt that I knew my mate wasn’t like he was before. That he didn’t seem to take in any of the simple pleasure of life. He never smiled or laughed. The only time he’d shown emotion was that first day but since

then……he’d been stone.

“Oh babe I knew there was a reason I loved you” Luca chuckled crawling toward Valentina.

She giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck as he crawled over her.

“Our cue to leave” I smirked sliding off Shadow’s lap and grabbing his hand. He followed me silently and I

sighed.

After a while he finally spoke “Where are we going mi amor”

My heart stuttered a little at his endearment and I blushed “Were going to a place I found the other day” I

pulled him outside the castle and into the forest that surrounded it.

After a couple more minutes of walking in the forest I stopped and smiled.

The waterfall made a roaring noise but it was a peaceful sound. The water sparkled like diamonds as the

moon shined down. The lighting bugs made everything even more peaceful.

Turning towards Shadow who was watching me quietly I slowly grabbed the hem of my shirt and pulled it over my head.

He stared at me his face unchanging.

Still smirking I unbutton my shorts and stepped out if them.

Leaving my clothes on the ground I walked into the water clad only in my lacy black bra and underwear.

The water was warm agasint my legs as I stepped in. I looked over my shoulder at Shadow and motioned him forward. “Come on swim with me” I pleaded.

He stared at me for a couple seconds before slowly taking off his shirt baring his wash board abs.

I didn’t let my eyes linger over his scars not wanting to ruin what i was trying to do.

I knew I’d just get angry and he’d shut down even more if he realized what I’d been staring at. He stepped out his shorts and walked towards me looking like a dark warrior coming out of battle. I smiled slightly and continued walking backwards.

When he reached me the water was to my waist. Without a word he wrapped his arms around me and pulled my body against his.

“You need to relax Shadow you know smile once and awhile”

He looked away and pulled back slightly. I quickly grabbed the back of his neck kept him in place.

He growled and shook his head.

“I can’t be what you want Lena. I can’t be the jokester or the life of the party anymore that’s just not who i am”

I shook my head frowning “Shadow I just want you to be happy. I can tell your not and…and it hurts. It hurts

that I can’t make you smile or laugh. It hurts that I don’t know how to make my mate happy…….” I trailed off

releasing him.

I felt tears well in my eyes and I stepped back. I was a horrible mate. After all he’d been through‘ should be able to make him happy. To help him heal but I had no idea how and he was still suffering.

He should have been given a better mate who knew how to help him not hinder him.

I moved to get out the water but he grasped my arm stopping me.

I gasped when his lips captured mine in a urgent kiss that sent my body into flames. He grasped the side of my face tightly as he savaged my mouth taking everything he desired which I happily gave.

Sparks and heat exploded inside me making it all that sweeter.

Me and Shadow hadn’t fully mated yet or even said those three little words. But none of that mattered when
