He let out a cold snort and said nothing more–at least not until Sebastian stepped into the villa.

It was the first time he had returned to the family home since his romance announcement.

“Seb, you’re back!” Bryce said, delighted.

“Dad, I’d like to have a word with my niece.”

“You’re looking for Lucy?” Bryce replied. “She’s not home.”

Sebastian shook his head, his sharp gaze landing squarely on Amber. “I came to ask Amber why she told her high school classmate Nancy Silverweight to smear Serena–and even had her call their managing partner to say Serena had poor character. You’re the one who stole her fiance–how is she the one with a bad character, hmm?”

The force of the accusation left Amber completely speechless. She looked frantically at her grandfather and at Trevor, trying to gather herself. “Uncle Sebastian, it’s not like that. You misunderstood me.”

Sebastian’s sneer deepened as he moved closer. “Go on then–how exactly did I misunderstand you?”

Amber bit her lip, trembling with helplessness. She had no idea how Sebastian had found out, nor why Nancy would sell her out like this.

Steeling herself, she said, “The other day, Kyana overheard Nancy mention that Serena worked at Beaumont Legal, then Nancy said Beaumont is working with Levine Group. Kyana was furious because Serena wanted to kick her and her mother out of the Steele Residence, so she told Nancy to do it out of spite.”

Just like that, Amber tossed the responsibility onto two other people.

“They were wrong, yes, but Uncle Sebastian, Serena kicked Kyana and her mom out. That wasn’t right either. Serena started it. So what Kyana did… isn’t it understandable?”

“Dad, what do you say?” Sebastian asked, turning to Bryce, who let out a weary sigh in response. He couldn’t understand how his grandchildren and the son he treasured the most ended up at each other’s throats like this.

“Fire her. Sebastian, you decide. And Amber, stay out of other people’s affairs from now on. That Kyana girl doesn’t know where to draw the line.”

Amber swallowed her grievance. In the end, Grandpa still took Serena’s side.
