“Thank you. You’re flattering me, Mr. Ziegler.”

Elijah patted Winona’s hand. “Mrs. Ziegler is right about you being gorgeous.”

As for the reason she didn’t play the female lead, it was because he forbade her to do so.

He liked Winona, but he didn’t want her to become popular. For him, her current reputation was enough. She wouldn’t have a busy schedule like the main leads, nor would she have too many kissing scenes.

He liked everything as it was.

Nobody knew Winona’s opinion on this matter, though.

Julian and Connor watched Elijah being lovey–dovey with Winona and gritted their teeth. Keep flaunting it. We’ll celebrate it when you two break up.

Winona blinked innocently. Why do I feel the looks on Elijah’s friends are telling me I shouldn’t make do with what I have?

Alton glanced around. “Where’s Sebastian? Is he off picking up his girlfriend?”

Sebastian was several years older than the gang, but he had also been Alton’s student back in high school.

He was technically the gang’s senior.

Connor criticized playfully, “You know him, Mr. Ziegler. Nobody except us wants to hang out with that iceman. He doesn’t have friends other than us. There’s no way he has gotten himself a girlfriend.”

The gang agreed that the post they had seen the other day was just the lonely man’s fantasy.

Julian scratched his cheek wordlessly, thinking otherwise. What if he really brings someone?

Elijah chimed in, “Exactly. I’m the most competent among you students.”

Julian and Connor glared daggers at him. Who says no girlfriend means loser now?

Thinking Elijah was courting envy, Winona tugged at his sleeve, and he reluctantly shut his mouth.

After Sebastian exited the car, he thoughtfully opened the door for Serena.

He offered his arm. She noticed it and slipped her hand through his arm.

She missed the smile that lit up his face. Instead, she heard his low voice and felt his hot

There weren’t many people. They were scattered around the venue. However, the curious, assessing looks still overwhelmed her.

She didn’t know why, but his existence was like magic.

She felt safe with him around.

Alton spoke up. “Sebastian, did you bring your girlfriend?”

“Yes, she is, Mr. Ziegler. She’s an attorney,” Sebastian answered unhurriedly.

An amused spark lit up Alton’s eyes. “Well, look at you. Your tongue’s sharp, and someone even sharper.”

Serena nodded with a smile before noticing the elderly lady beside him.

“Ignore my husband. He doesn’t know how to give compliments. An attorney, you said? That’s a great career!”

Connor didn’t expect Sebastian to bring someone, and he found her familiar.

Elijah narrowed his eyes, his mind racing. Why does she look familiar? Where have I seen her?

Neither of them had imagined Sebastian’s so–called girlfriend would be Trevor’s ex–fiancee.

Only Julian, who knew the truth, secretly rolled his eyes. How bold! He really brings her! His old man would raise hell for it if he caught wind of this!

Sebastian looked at the younger men’s faces with a teasing look. “What are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to introduce yourself to my girlfriend?”

The men stared at him in shock.

“Don’t look so surprised. Come greet Serena. I’m technically your elder. It’s only polite to greet her. Don’t you agree?”

The three younger men sneered. Pretentious!

“Hi, Serena.” Julian betrayed his friends‘ trust.

The other two grudgingly echoed, “Hello.”

Sebastian wasn’t pleased with the other two. He frowned slightly. “I can’t hear you. Say it like you mean it.”

Connor hated how pretentious Sebastian was, and he drawled. “Hey, Serena.”

Elijah did the same.

They didn’t have an issue with Serena. They just hated that Sebastian threw his weight around.

“By the way, you look familiar, Serena. Have we met before?” Connor began.

She tensed at the question. Of course, you have met me. The Jenkinses and the Paynes attended the wedding.

Elijah shared his friend’s view. “Yeah, I also thought you looked familiar.”

However, Winona pinched him. He gasped in pain and didn’t dwell on the topic.

The childhood friends chatted about topics only known to them.

Winona stepped forward and took Serena’s arm, telling them, “The two of us are taking a walk. You boys can carry on.”

Serena wasn’t used to kindness from strangers.

They hadn’t gone far when Winona released Serena’s arm.

She stuck out her tongue playfully. “Their conversation is boring as hell, right?”

Serena chuckled. “Yeah.”

“Serena Steele. I actually know who you are.”

Winona blinked. “Have you watched my shows too?”
