Chapter 114 First Meeting
The three younger men sneered. Pretentious!
“Hi, Serena.” Julian betrayed his friends‘ trust.
The other two grudgingly echoed, “Hello.”

Sebastian wasn’t pleased with the other two. He frowned slightly. “I can’t hear you. Say it like you mean it.”
Connor hated how pretentious Sebastian was, and he drawled. “Hey, Serena.”
Elijah did the same.
They didn’t have an issue with Serena. They just hated that Sebastian threw his weight around.
“By the way, you look familiar, Serena. Have we met before?” Connor began.
She tensed at the question. Of course, you have met me. The Jenkinses and the Paynes attended the wedding.
Elijah shared his friend’s view. “Yeah, I also thought you looked familiar.”
However, Winona pinched him. He gasped in pain and didn’t dwell on the topic.
The childhood friends chatted about topics only known to them.
Winona stepped forward and took Serena’s arm, telling them, “The two of us are taking a walk. You boys can carry on.”
Serena wasn’t used to kindness from strangers.
They hadn’t gone far when Winona released Serena’s arm.
She stuck out her tongue playfully. “Their conversation is boring as hell, right?”
Serena chuckled. “Yeah.”
“I’m Winona Campbell. And you?”
“Serena Steele. I actually know who you are.”
Winona blinked. “Have you watched my shows too?”

She had recognized Winona carlier. Back when she had just joined Beaumont Legal, she saw Winona leaving her boss‘ office with teary eyes.
Winona had been to their firm, so Serena recognized her.

Winona praised her. “Your dress is gorgeous. You could walk a red carpet in that.”
“Thanks. You’re sweet.”
Serena could tell Winona was cheerful, the total opposite of Elijah.
She’s no doubt an extrovert. She spaced out at that thought. Winona has changed a lot since I first saw her, despite our meeting being only a brief moment.
She finally said, “I first saw you at the firm.”
Winona paused as memories flooded back into her mind. “Are you from Beaumont Legal?”
Serena nodded. “Yeah. Back then, I was just an intern who had just joined.”
“No wonder you recognized me. My agency had just screwed me over, and I was facing an astronomical penalty fee at that time. I must have looked pathetic when you saw me.”
