Chapter 128 Giving Her a Ride

The table wasn’t very wide, so when they reached for dishes, their fingertips occasionally brushed against each other. Serena felt particularly awkward.

Of the four at the table, Julian seemed to be Sebastian’s friend and naturally understood the current relationship between them.

Lucinda, on the other hand, knew nothing at all. Serena felt both guilty and nervous at the thought of being discovered. It was safe to say that she ate this meal on edge the entire time.

Near the end, Lucinda asked casually, “Hey, Rena, are you free this weekend? Why don’t we make a trip to Baleh for a few days?”

She deliberately raised her eyes, only to meet the man’s dark gaze as he smiled faintly, staring intently at her.

She quickly looked away and cleared her throat twice. “I’ve already made plans this weekend, Lucy. I can’t go with you.”

“How about next week?”

Serena’s eyes dimmed. “Next week is my grandmother’s death anniversary. Sorry.”

“Nah, don’t be. Sorry, I should have thought it through better.” Lucinda pouted, feeling a little frustrated, and hugged her friend.

When she released Serena, she glanced at Sebastian and noticed his brows were slightly furrowed. Why did he look so stern all of a

sudden?

She turned to Julian, giving him a half–hearted thanks. “Thanks for today, Julian.”

“Alright, then! I had plenty to drink. Did you two drive here?”

Julian still needed to wait for his own driver to pick him up.

“Nope.” Lucinda shook her head. “It’s fine. Lucy and I will just take a cab.”

Suddenly, Sebastian spoke in a lazy drawl. “I didn’t drink. I’ll drive you.”

Julian froze. “In that case, who clinked glasses with me earlier? Mr. Levine, I’m not saying this lightly–you may have money and power, but traffic laws still apply!”

“It was sparkling water,” Sebastian replied. “I’d been drinking that the entire time. You just assumed I was having the same thing.

Julian didn’t know what to say.

He let out a quiet snort. Apparently, people really did laugh when they were at a loss for words.

“You clinked glasses with me using water? You’ve got some nerve!”

Sebastian lifted his eyes slowly and gave him a cold glance. “What’s wrong with that?”

To Julian, Sebastian was infuriatingly cunning.

Finally, the two got into Sebastian’s car, while Julian stayed behind to wait for his driver.

Sebastian’s dark eyes, slightly upturned at the corners, peeped through the rearview mirror toward the two in the backseat.

“Lucy, I’ll drop you off first before sending Serena home.”

Lucinda didn’t think much of it. “Okay, Uncle Sebastian.”

Serena wanted to say that dropping her off at the subway station would be fine, and suddenly regretted having her car in for maintenance today.
