Chapter 133 See You This Weekend
Chapter 133 See You This Weekend
Lily spread her hands. “Do you know who my client is trying to sue?”
Serena asked curiously, “Who?”
“It’s the girlfriend of Levine Studios‘ boss! How am I supposed to win a case like that?”
Amber?

“The boss says there’s a chance we could win. Since I got assigned to it, I can’t just push it off onto someone else. I just have to bite the bullet.”
Serena’s interest was piqued, and she took a glance at that case file.
So it turned out that Amber posted her album poster online. Then she was accused of stealing someone’s creative work.
Cases like this really were tough.
“Why do you think the boss wanted me to work on this case?”
Serena thought about it. Eugene probably knew about her and Trevor’s history, so he didn’t put her on the case and gave it to Lily instead.
She smiled. “Let’s go over it together tomorrow.”
“Ah, Rena, I love you!”
At 1:50 p.m., Eugene and Serena showed up right on time at the Levine Group conference room.
The meeting room was familiar, as were the faces.
The ever–attentive Daniel actually greeted the folks from Beaumont Legal first when he came in. “Mr. Beaumont, Ms. Steele, the last due diligence you submitted was excellent. Our boss was very pleased.”
Eugene was surprised. It was just a due diligence report–was it really worth so much praise?
He didn’t realize Daniel was just buttering them up.
“Just doing our job, Mr. Hart, but thanks for the compliment.”
The people from the accounting firm were speechless. Did that mean their due diligence report wasn’t good enough?
Sebastian, as usual, made a late entrance. His gaze swept lightly over the Beaumont Legal’s representatives.
That tiny move was subtle, but Daniel caught every bit of it.
Daniel knew then, and there he’d made the right call with his flattery!
Sebastian was wearing glasses again today–the same pair he’d just picked up from Serena’s place yesterday.
Serena felt an odd kind of awkwardness about it.

Sebastian spoke briefly. “For this merger project, let’s keep all the business during working hours as much as possible. I want everyone’s evenings and weekends to be free. That goes for all partners, too. I don’t want us depending on overtime just to meet deadlines. How does everyone feel about that?”
Serena was speechless.
Daniel was quick to agree. “Mr. Levine is right. We’re all more efficient during office hours! No more complaints from us. What about you, Mr. Beaumont?”
Eugene’s mouth twitched. This was the weirdest proposal he’d ever heard.
“No objections here.”
Serena thought, Is Sebastian just abusing his power for personal reasons?
The meeting lasted two hours, wrapping up just as the workday was ending.
Daniel deliberately kept Eugene behind for a chat in his office.
Serena stayed in the conference room, organizing her notes from the meeting.
