She looked up, and her eyes widened in shock–it was Nathan.

Nathan looked just as surprised. “Serena? Did you come to Levine Group to see me?”

Serena quickly shook her head. “No, Nathan… Mr. Levine. I’m just here on business.”

Nathan’s assistant, Zohn Woods, immediately recognized Serena.

After all, she’d almost married Trevor once.

Nathan asked, puzzled, “Business?”

“Mr. Levine, Ms. Steele should be here about the company’s latest merger project. Mr. Hart mentioned that we chose Beaumont Legat as our outside counsel,” Zohn reminded him gently.

Nathan understood. “I see.”

He chuckled. “Serena, if you need anything, just contact my assistant. I have another meeting, so I’ll head over now.”

Serena kept a polite smile on her face the whole time, but it never reached her eyes.

She knew better than to take Nathan’s courteous words seriously.

If he really cared, he’d tell her to reach

directly if she needed help.

Serena understood that after breaking off her engagement with Trevor, she no longer enjoyed the special treatment from the Levine Family members.

Especially since she chose to call off the wedding on the very day.

That had embarrassed not only Trevor but Nathan as well.

The fact that he could still be polite on the surface was already more than she expected..

Back in his office, Nathan’s face turned cold. “Was Daniel the one who picked the law firm for this merger project?”

Zohn replied, “Yes.”

“Daniel’s one of Sebastian’s people. Did he assign Serena because he knew she used to be engaged to Trevor?

“Zohn, when you have time, go sound out Daniel. If he assigned Serena to the case for that, remind him that Serena no longer has anything to do with the Levine Family.”

What Nathan really meant was that he didn’t want Daniel to get the wrong idea about Serena still being connected to the Levines

Since she chose not to marry into their family, she shouldn’t get any of the privileges that come with their name

“Mr. Nathan will need it later.”

There were plenty of conference rooms in the building, not just the one on the twenty–second floor, so Daniel thought this question

was unnecessary.
