Serena felt a sinking weight in her chest. So Levine Studios had gone with Beaumont Legal after all. Even if it wasn’t her own team handling them, it still meant the firm now had control–and that made taking the infringement case far more complicated.

With that thought pressing on her, she rapped lightly on Eugene’s office door. “Come in,” he said, having just ended a call. “What’s going on? You look troubled.”

He froze. He had no counter for that. “Ah… that explains why you’re so invested. But I’m afraid Beaumont Legal cannot take this case, Serena.”
