“I honestly didn’t expect that Levine Studios wouldn’t step in to bury the trending topic.” Ethan’s excitement only grew. The larger the plagiarism issue became, the more it worked in his favor.
“Mr. Carver, I’ve got it. I’ll sort through everything you’ve told me today. Regarding the compensation you received, any chat logs or call recordings from your negotiations will count as evidence. Make sure to also provide digital copies of the receipt for the 500,000 you got, and the receipt proving you returned it. Once everything is ready, you can coordinate with Zephyr Legal’s lawyers directly. That’s solid proof right there” Serena explained.
A rush of relief and hope warmed Ethan. “That’s perfect! Ms. Steele, I really appreciate it.”
Serena allowed herself a faint smile. “No thanks needed. You’re Winona’s friend, and I promised her I’d step in. Honestly, you deserve the credit–without your courage to speak up, none of this progress would even exist.”
“Mr. Levine, Mr. Trevor is waiting outside. Would you like to see him?” Mason asked.
Sebastian’s eyes flicked to the five missed calls on his phone. He shook his head, his tone sharp and unyielding. “No. Tell him I’m still in a meeting. Don’t know when it’ll end.”
Mason, fully aware of the context, exhaled quietly. Sebastian’s ruthlessness spared no one–not even his own nephew’s company. And Lucinda too? Cleared away without a second thought. Both were removed in one decisive move.
And as always, the root cause? Clearly, it was because of Ms. Steele. Once more, Mason had to acknowledge just how much influence she held in Sebastian’s mind.
Trevor tried to get in touch with Sebastian, but no luck. Frustrated, he dialed his father, only to find the phone switched off—he was on a late–night flight.
His gaze lingered on the flashing notifications. “Trevor, have you managed to see Uncle Sebastian yet?” Annoyance surged through him. Everything had been under control until that sudden trending scandal blew up, leaving him scrambling to contain it.
Normally, he wouldn’t have lifted a finger for any other artist in the company–but this was Amber. Yet, even with his direct involvement, the trending topic stubbornly refused to fade.
Without seeing other alternatives, Trevor had no choice but to try reaching Sebastian. But the timing couldn’t have been worse– Sebastian was in the middle of a meeting. Meanwhile, the word “plagiarism” had been trending for five full hours. Every additional minute was eating away at Amber’s reputation.
Amber finally lost patience and rang him. “Trevor, can’t you ask your uncle’s assistant to help? Just tell him it’s urgent.”
Trevor rubbed his temples, frustration boiling beneath the surface. “You really think I haven’t tried? You know him–calls during meetings are the worst. He won’t answer them, and he never calls anyone himself. Even Mason, his chief assistant, won’t dare interrupt.”
He couldn’t risk barging in. And dragging his grandpa into a petty fight over a trending topic? That would only make things worse- Bryce would resent Amber more, and he’d look utterly weak. If a single hot topic couldn’t be taken down, how could he still hold his head up as a Levine?
