After finishing her words, the elderly woman tugged her small trolley, stepped into the elevator, and left to run her errands.

“Any updates?” Trevor asked, shooting him a frigid glance.

“Mr. Trevor, not yet. There’s no proof that Ms. Steele is in a relationship. However, there is something else…”

Trevor’s brow tightened. “Get to the point.”

“It appears Ms. Steele was previously involved in Ms. Jacobs‘ infringement lawsuit. Your dad discovered it and sent a warning to Beaumont Legal. As a result, Ms. Steele has been temporarily suspended.”

“What?” Trevor’s chest thudded painfully.

“Dad is acting recklessly!”

The assistant hesitated. “I’ve already checked. Mr. Rowe is currently away on a business trip. He won’t return for another three days.”

“But our Investment Department operates directly under our CEO. Mr. Nathan doesn’t oversee that division.”

They were both quick thinkers, and the subtle reminder landed exactly as intended. Adam understood immediately.

“Of course, Mr. Hart. Everything ultimately answers to Mr. Sebastian. If we’ve overlooked anything, please let me know.”

Daniel laughed softly. “You’re too courteous. Beaumont Legal isn’t our only choice for this merger. We selected your firm because of Mr. Beaumont. We hold him and his team in high regard. I trust you understand what I’m implying.”

Daniel’s implication could not have been more obvious.

He had already hinted once on Serena’s behalf, and he couldn’t understand why Adam was pressing the issue even harder this time.

At first, Adam assumed Serena had some personal connection to Daniel. Later, Eugene firmly denied any link, so Adam dismissed the idea.
