Sebastian’s brows drew together slightly. “You still haven’t answered my question.”

She calmly picked up a piece of fish and placed it into his plate, smoothly dodging the issue. “Dig in. I have a court hearing tomorrow, and I need to prep in the study after dinner.”

When he realized she had no intention of talking, the crease between his brows deepened.

After the meal, they went upstairs separately, each heading to their own study.

Sebastian caught a glimpse of her retreating figure–quiet and light, like a cat slipping away. He paused, then turned back toward his study, lost in thought.

Instead, he went downstairs.

In the princess–themed room on the first floor, Molly was already waiting. He poured some rabbit feed into the pet’s bowl.

Running his fingers through the pet’s snow–white fur, he murmured, “Tell me, your mom is clearly hiding something from me. What do you think I should do about that?”

Molly kept his head buried in the food, munching with complete devotion. The concept of adult emotional warfare was obviously beyond him.

Sebastian chuckled softly. “Fine. I’ll deal with her on our wedding day.”

The next morning, Daniel was summoned early to the executive office.

“Mr. Levine?” he asked. “Mr. Royce said you were looking for me?”

“Sit.” Sebastian gestured casually. “Nothing urgent. I just happened to hear something—did someone at Beaumont Legal get suspended for a while recently?”

He cleared his throat. “Yes, Mr. Levine. I noticed someone missing from their legal team and asked around. That’s when I found out Ms. Steele had been suspended.

“The firm didn’t give us details, so I asked Mr. Beaumont directly. Apparently, someone went to their department head and said a few things.”

“Someone?” Sebastian’s gaze sharpened. “Someone from our company again?”

Last time, Amber’s classmate had tried to stir up trouble for Serena–and got fired for it.

Logically, no one should have been stupid enough to try again.

Unfortunately, the person causing trouble this time was his own brother.

Daniel chose his words carefully. “Well… Mr. Levine, Mr. Rowe mentioned that Mr. Woods had gone to see him.”

Zohn Woods had already tried to subtly push Daniel before, hinting that Serena should be ‘dealt with.’

That was also how Daniel accidentally discovered she was Trevor’s ex–girlfriend.

Should I say more? He hesitated, but eventually spoke up. “There’s actually something else I didn’t mention.”

Sebastian lifted one eyebrow. “What is it?”

His instincts told him it wouldn’t be good.

“When Ms. Steele’s team came to discuss the case last time,” Daniel began quietly, eyes lowered, “they specifically told me not to give her any special treatment. It was because Mr. Woods said she had already broken up with Mr. Trevor.”

The air froze.

Daniel didn’t dare look up before a soft, cold laugh broke the silence.

“How considerate of him,” Sebastian said lightly. “Going out of his way to remind you. That’s all. You can go.”

Daniel finally raised his eyes and immediately saw the frost on Sebastian’s face. Oh. Someone is definitely about to have a very bad day.
