Nathan wasn’t the only one confused.

There had been no strategic shifts lately–no major investments, no policy changes. The timing made no sense.
At three sharp, all the directors were present.
Sebastian briefly reviewed the company’s ongoing mergers and acquisitions, then casually turned his gaze toward his older brother.
In the office, he treated Nathan no differently from any other executive.
“Mr. Nathan,” Sebastian said coolly, “I recently received word that your assistant, Zohn Woods, interfered in our acquisition talks with Credence Electronics. Were you aware of this?”
Nathan’s expression changed instantly. “Seb, who told you that? That’s impossible. Zohn has been with me for ten years. He would never do something like that.”
Sebastian curled his lips faintly.
“Apologies, Mr. Nathan. Please address me as Mr. Sebastian. We’re in a board meeting.”
The room went silent.
Several directors straightened instinctively.
Oh boy. Two Levines are about to clash.
Nathan’s face stiffened. “Mr. Sebastian, do you have any concrete evidence for this accusation?”
Sebastian’s voice dropped, icy and final. “My word is the evidence.”
That single sentence sealed Zohn’s fate.
“I’m simply reminding you, Mr. Nathan, to keep your assistant in check. If this happens again, Mr. Woods may need to find employment elsewhere.”
“That’s all. Meeting adjourned.”
Sebastian walked out without another glance.
Outside, Mason immediately followed his boss.

Zohn stayed behind, waiting for Nathan. As the other directors passed him, their looks were….
strange.
Only when the room was empty did Nathan finally emerge.
Zohn noticed his grim expression at once. “Mr. Nathan… did something happen in the meeting?”
Nathan sighed inwardly.
Despite being more than a decade older, he now had to watch his younger brother’s face.
For the first time, he felt resentment toward their father for handing most of the group’s shares to Sebastian so recklessly.
“He knows you went to Beaumont Legal.”
Zohn’s heart dropped. “So, Mr. Levine is angry?”
“Yes.”
Publicly humiliating his own brother went far beyond ordinary anger.
“But why?” Zohn asked carefully. “Did Ms. Steele complain to him?”
Nathan’s eyes darkened.
He’d been asking himself the same question.
By all logic, Serena’s engagement with the Levine family had already been nullified. She should have had nothing to do with them anymore.
So why would Sebastian go this far for her?
Why would he risk embarrassing his own brother?
Did Dad say something?
Nathan shook the thought away.
It was Friday.
Family dinner day.
