Chapter 179 That Must Be It
The share transfer was finally complete.
Donald called his daughter over the moment everything was settled.

“Rena, I’ve done everything exactly the way you wanted,” he said briskly over the phone. “Now hurry up and tell Sebastian to register the marriage!”
Serena glanced down at the agreement in her hand, along with the official change–of- ownership notice. The corner of her lips lifted in quiet satisfaction. “What’s the rush?”
“How can there not be a rush?” He nearly jumped. “Rena, don’t tell me you’re having second thoughts?”
She smiled faintly. “Relax. I’m not.”
Then, casually, she changed the subject. “By the way, are you going to the Levine family wedding next week?”
Donald frowned. “What are you planning?”
He hadn’t received an invitation from the Levines directly, but his second daughter, Kyana, would be attending as a bridesmaid.
As for Amber, she’d sent Donald and his wife a wedding invitation as well, though it was under her name rather than the Levine family’s.
“Nothing,” Serena drawled deliberately. “Just asking. Why are you so nervous?”
Donald was both annoyed and anxious. “I’m not nervous! I just want to know when you’re going to register the marriage with Sebastian!”
He continued, “Rena, stop dragging this out. A man like that–if you don’t lock him down, someone else will!”
Serena slipped the documents neatly into her bag and waved a hand. “See you next week. Don’t worry, what you’re afraid of won’t happen.”
The moment she turned away, mockery filled her eyes. Does he really think that after I marry Sebastian, he can start playing the role of Sebastian’s father–in–law?
If that was his expectation, he was in for a disappointment.

She had just stepped out of Steele Tech when her phone buzzed with a new friend request approval.
Daniel had added her on WhatsApp through a group
chat.
She’d been meaning to thank him personally anyway, so she accepted right away.
“Mr. Hart, hello. Thank you again for going to Mr. Rowe and explaining things for me last time.”
His reply came almost instantly.
“Oh no, Mrs. Levine, you’re too kind. This was absolutely my responsibility.
“The one who went to Beaumont Legal spreading rumors was Mr. Woods. Mr. Sebastian already addressed it at today’s board meeting on your behalf. If your law firm gives you trouble again in the future, just come to me directly.”
What a perfect opportunity.
Of course, Daniel wanted to stay on the good side of Mrs. Levine–while also making sure she knew just how much Mr. Sebastian had done for her.
Honestly, where else could a company find an employee as loyal and hardworking as him?
Serena stared at her phone. Her heartbeat skipped, and something inside her softened quietly. Sebastian really was backing her–just like he’d said he would.
It was still early, so she drove straight to the city’s largest mall to pick out a thank–you gift for him.
“Ma’am, this is our newest platinum couple’s ring set,” the sales associate said warmly.
“The design is clean and elegant. Diamond rings are beautiful, but couple rings are worn far more often. Would you like me to wrap them for you?”
Serena looked at the gleaming rings in the tray, then checked the price.
Very reasonable.
He’d probably like them, right?

After all, Sebastian had been taking care of her nonstop. She’d even relied on him when the company’s shares were involved–buying him a gift felt more than fair.
Besides, half of this gift was for her, too.
“Please wrap them.”
She had just pulled out her phone to pay when a faintly mocking voice came from behind her.
“Serena, what a coincidence. You’re here too?”
Her brows knitted slightly. She didn’t turn around, only said coolly to the sales associate, ‘I’m paying.”
Amber clung to her like a piece of gum. “What did you buy, Serena?” she leaned in. “Oh–rings! Are you getting married?”
Her tone was exaggeratedly surprised.
In truth, she was a little shocked. The last time she’d seen Serena, with Kyana, they’d spotted her with a married man.
And now this?
So the mistress was trying to claw her way into the spotlight–buying a ring to tie a man down?
That must be it.
