“Yes, Mr. Levine. Mrs. Levine went back to her room at 10 p.m. She didn’t come out again. But, it seems like she got you a gift,” Charles said.
Sebastian’s lashes flickered. “A gift?”
“Yeah. When I came back, I saw Mrs. Levine put a box in the dining room, then she took it back to her room. I guess she’ll give it to you tomorrow.”
Sebastian nodded lightly, said nothing more, and headed straight upstairs.
He found himself walking toward the main bedroom where she stayed. He really wanted to knock and see what she had bought him right now. But it was too late. He still smelled of alcohol, and he didn’t want to disturb her rest.
Still, when he returned to his own bedroom, his fingers trembled slightly as he picked up gift box sitting on the nightstand.
He opened it. Inside lay a pair of silver rings.

Sebastian’s normally cool–white skin flushed with a faint red. His eyes and brow, blurred by the alcohol, snapped into sharp focus.
He rolled the silver ring between his thumb and forefinger. His long lashes brushed lightly. That slow, aching sting settled deep in his chest and filled it.
He had tried to resist. But no matter how hard he fought, he couldn’t anymore.
Knock, knock.
“Rena, are you asleep?”
Serena had been drifting off when the knocking started outside her door. Half–awake and irritated, she pulled the blanket over her ears, hoping it would stop. It did not. The sound kept hammering on her nerves.
She threw the covers aside, stomped out of bed, and yanked the door open. “Do you have any idea what time it is? I was already asleep.”
“Sorry,” Sebastian said.
Her almond–shaped eyes, still blazing with anger, collided without warning with his long, shadowed gaze. She caught the faint flush on his cheeks and frowned. “Are you drunk?”

“I am.” His voice came out rough, wrapped in a low, lazy chuckle. “Rena, you started this.”
Before she could react, his hand closed around her wrist and tugged her back with a gentle pull. She stumbled straight into his chest, completely unprepared. “Sebastian, what are you doing?”
He lowered his gaze, eyes burning as they locked onto hers. His voice slowed, the last word drawn out. “What am I doing?”
He leaned in, unyielding. The warm breath brushed the skin behind her ear, carrying a faint trace of alcohol. His eyes, though, were soft and unmistakably tender. “Kissing you.”
Sebastian’s tongue pushed in without warning, cutting off every broken sound she tried to make. The kiss came hard and commanding, leaving her no room to resist.
The first time he had kissed her, it happened when the drug was still in his system. It came out of nowhere and caught her completely off guard.
The second time was in front of the altar. It was light and fleeting. Over before it could linger.
Now, the heat in the room kept climbing.
Sebastian no longer hesitated. He slipped easily past her lips, slow and practiced, gentle as he went deeper. His eyes fell shut in quiet intoxication as he moved against her teeth, taking ground inch by inch.
Serena’s lips were flushed and swollen, kissed so thoroughly they looked ready to bleed. It only made her more irresistible.
He pulled back just a little, breathing rough. “Did you buy the ring for me?”
Her breath was just as unsteady. “Yeah. A thank–you gift. For you.”
