Sebastian could not stop himself from tracing her burning cheeks, his thumb lingering as if she were something rare and fragile. He leaned in and pressed soft, reverent kisses against her skin.
After he finally reined in the wild, roaring rush inside his chest, he pulled back from her lips. He ruffled her hair gently and murmured, “The ring I had made for you still needs another week. I did not expect you to beat me to it. Good night. Go to sleep.”
Serena, still dizzy and lightheaded from the kiss, only then began to register what had just happened.
So this whole thing starts because of the ring I gave him.
The regret hit her all at once.
I really should be giving him a different gift.
But when she really thought about it, she didn’t hate kissing him. She rolled back onto the bed, not wanting to dwell on it, and slipped into a long, lazy sleep.
Meanwhile, Amber was sitting in the private room, still fuming from the two slaps she’d just taken.
“Amber, wait–you’re saying you just ran into Serena?” Kyana had rushed over to the club as soon as she got the call.
Amber sneered. “Yeah. Not just ran into her–she was buying matching rings. Is she getting married or what?”
Kyana shook her head firmly. “No way. That old guy is never going to marry her. I haven’t heard anything about her tying the knot.” After all, marriage was a big deal. If she really had, there’s no way Kyana would have been entirely in the dark.
Amber snorted. “If she’s not getting married, why the hell is she buying rings?”
Could she really be doing it just to please that old guy?
Kyana looped her arm through hers, giving a gentle squeeze. “Hey, Amber, chill. You’re about to be the most gorgeous bride in the world. Why waste energy being mad at her? I mean, I’ll be your bridesmaid on your big day, right? Might as well send Serena an invite too. Honestly,

what could possibly sting more than showing up at the wedding of the guy she’s been crushing on and losing out?”
Amber’s eyes lit up, a small smile tugging at her lips. “You’re right, Kyana. Thanks for doing this. Can you make sure she actually gets the invite?”
Kyana tilted her head with a sly smile. “Relax. I’ve got this covered.”
The next day, Kyana showed up at Serena’s office at Beaumont Legal.
Serena shot her a cold glare. “What are you doing here?”
Kyana held out the invite. “Here. Amber’s being generous. She wanted you to have this.”
Serena didn’t take it at first.
“What, scared to show up?” Kyana teased.
Serena let out an annoyed laugh, snatching the card from Kyana’s hand. “Scared? Please. Saturday, right? Don’t worry. I’ll be there on time.”
Kyana’s grin widened. “Perfect. Then I’ll see you at the wedding.”
Amber’s big day was fast approaching. Only a couple of days left.
Trevor’s wedding was tomorrow, and a few of his buddies had thrown him a bachelor party.
To them, this was it–Trevor finally getting the girl he loved.
But he was acting out of character, quietly nursing his drink.
“Mr. Trevor, hey, slow down. You’ve got to be up early tomorrow to pick up the bride,” one them said.

Trevor shook his head. “Pick up the bride, my ass! You drink! If you’re not drinking, get the hell out of here. Bring someone else to sit with me!”
His friends exchanged helpless glances. There was only one person to call. “Amber, can you come get Mr. Trevor? He’s drunk.”
Amber showed up at the clubhouse fast. She frowned and scolded, “How could
you let him
