Marvie?
Sebastian’s brow lifted slightly. Was this guy out of his mind?

He raised a hand and waved at the server. “Could we get a few more sets of serving utensils? For hygiene.”
Marvolo’s eye twitched. That jab hit clean.
“My bad. Should’ve thought of that.”
He picked up the new serving utensils and added a slice of beef to her plate. “Try this. It’s really good.
“You barely touched your food. You should eat more.”
Sebastian let out a short breath. “Mr. Fischer, didn’t expect you to be so attentive.”
Then his tone shifted. “How old are your kids? Elementary?”
Marvolo’s face stiffened.
Sebastian kept going. “Not elementary? Maybe middle school?”
Marvolo forced a smile. “You’re joking, Mr. Levine. I’m not married.”
“Oh? No girlfriend either?”
Marvolo’s jaw tightened. He was holding his anger in. “No.”
Sebastian gave a slow nod. “That’s surprising. I took you for someone already married. You look about there.”
Now Marvolo knew for sure. This man came here to pick a fight.
Was he into Serena too?
Marvolo raised a brow. “Then I assume you’re married, Mr. Levine?”
Eugene started sweating through his collar.
“Haha, Mr. Levine…” He tried to defuse it.

Sebastian smiled. He lifted his left hand and ran a finger over the ring on his finger. “Yes. I’m married.”
Then his eyes slid to Serena’s hand. His voice dropped. “What about Ms. Steele? Are you married yet?”
Serena stopped breathing for a second.
There it was. The blade finally turned on her.
She pressed her lips together and forced a smile. “Yes. I just got my license.”
Between angering her mentor and infuriating Sebastian, she made her choice. Sorry, Eugene.
Elijah yanked at his tie and scowled. “Where’s Sebastian? He said ten minutes. He was supposed to get me out of this.”
Julian let out a laugh. But it was dry, joyless.
Mr. Levine just saw something that flipped his mood upside down. He’s not saving anyone tonight.
“What was that laugh, Julian?”
Julian rolled his eyes. “Ask him yourself. Why are you asking me?
“He took off fast.”
Elijah can walk into this mess himself.
“Whatever. I’m done wasting my night. I’m leaving. Enjoy your first blind date.”
Elijah watched him leave, then sighed and pulled out his phone.
The line rang once.
Then it clicked straight to voicemail.
He stared at the screen. Seriously? He declined the call?
Sebastian didn’t even glance at his phone.
He tossed it into the back seat.

Then he leaned over Serena, his body pressing against hers. His lips, dry and cool, brushed over hers slowly.
She tried to resist at first. But his breath was hot, and she lost control. Her lips parted just enough.
That tiny movement made Sebastian’s eyes darken. His kiss deepened.
Her phone buzzed inside her purse. She tried to push him away.
But his hand caught her jaw. He didn’t let her go.
The phone kept vibrating. The air inside the car got heavier.
When he finally pulled back, his eyes were red, and his voice was hoarse.
“Pick it up.”
Serena’s lips parted. Her breath came shaky and slow. She looked down. It was Eugene.
