Chapter 219 Confusion
Chapter 219 Confusion
It seemed like Sebastian liked her.
He defended her without hesitation.
He put together that whole ridiculous proposal just for her.
He kissed her every chance he got.
But sometimes, he pulled back so hard it made her wonder if he was hiding some condition.
How had someone like him ended up with her?
Serena took a breath and deleted the first message.
“Lucinda, it’s nothing. Go to bed. It’s late.”
“Hello? Are you okay? Rena, you two are married. Why are you sleeping in different rooms?”
She locked her screen. She didn’t want to deal with it.
Even if there was something wrong, it didn’t matter.
Even if he kept treating her like this, she’d accept it. No judgment. No pressure.
In the bathroom, Sebastian stepped out with steam clinging to his skin.
The robe hung loose around him. The fire in his
eyes was gone.
His phone buzzed on the coffee table. He’d only just turned it on.
“Hey, Dad.’
“You finally picked up. Do you know how many times I called you?”
Sebastian let out a quiet laugh. “Just turned it on. I wasn’t ignoring you.”
“Sure. I stopped by your place. You were in the guest room?”
Sebastian frowned. “Why were you walking around someone else’s house?”

“I didn’t walk around. The door was open. I saw for myself. What, you playing the gentleman now? You gonna give me a grandkid or not?”
“I will, after the wedding.”
“Then get moving!” Bryce barked.
“I know. I’ll schedule a dinner with Rena’s dad in a few days. We’ll go over everything. Oh, and Dad–don’t forget the wedding gift. Be generous.”

Bryce paused.
This kid.
“When have I ever been stingy? I’m hanging up. Keep talking and I’ll blow a vessel.”

The next morning, Sebastian caught Serena staring. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No.”
She bit into her toast. “How often do you get checkups?”
Sebastian frowned. “I do a full one every year. I’m healthy. No need to worry.”
“Okay.”
Serena didn’t push it. She kept quiet.
Bringing it up could hurt his pride, and she didn’t want to do that.
“Dad said he booked a room at Midnight Society to talk wedding plans. Should we invite your father?”
Serena nodded. “Alright. I’ll give him a call later.”
To be honest, she didn’t care if Donald showed up.
Most girls dreamed of their fathers walking them down the aisle. Serena had stopped dreaming about that a long time ago.
Sebastian noticed the change in her tone and dropped the subject.
That evening, in a private VIP room at Midnight Society, Sebastian and Serena arrived together.
Donald came in just behind them. “Rena, you really didn’t give me much notice. I barely had time to prepare.”
He handed over a few antiques and said to Sebastian, “This is just a small gesture for your father.”
Sebastian gave it a glance. “Thanks. Just leave it there.”
Donald froze a little. But he didn’t let it show.
