“Actually, yes, I can,” Serena said, her smile calm but sharp. “Sorry, darling, but let me correct you on something. I’m the ma shareholder at Steele Tech. I don’t micromanage, but when it comes to performance reviews, I absolutely have a say.
“Mr. Yelensky, I believe it’s time this company stopped tolerating nepotism. If we keep hiring based on last names instead of qualifications, we’ll be runnin2g a daycare, not a corporation. Wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Yelensky?”
‘Yes, Ms. Steele. You’re right. That’s something Mr. Steele has wanted to fix for a while now. He just hadn’t followed through. you’ve brought it up, we’ll start enforcing those rules in the handbook immediately.”
The two of them were completely in sync. Kyana’s face flushed purple.
“Why you… I’m going to talk to Mom!”
She stormed down to the finance department and froze when she saw Yvonne packing up her desk.
‘Mom? What’s going on?”
Her brows pulled tight. “It’s that brat again, isn’t it?”
Yvonne was furious, but she kept herself composed. “We’ll talk at home.”
‘Mom, she’s lost it. She’s completely insane!”
(vonne narrowed her eyes. “Insane or not, she’s definitely out to crush both of us.”
Serena watched from a distance, her expression cool.
Kicking them out was nothing. The person she really wanted gone was her father.
Trevor had been walking around like a ghost lately. He couldn’t focus on anything.
‘Mr. Levine, should we keep going with Ms. Jacobs‘ campaign?”
‘Handle it however you want.”
He didn’t care about Amber’s career anymore.
‘Call Mr. Lopez. I’ll go to the firm myself this afternoon.”
His assistant hesitated. “Beaumont Legal?”
“Yes.”
‘Understood. I’ll call now.”
A CEO visiting a law firm personally? That meant something was up.
The assistant stepped out and contacted Beaumont Legal. But Lee’s assistant said he was out of town on business
“Mr. Levine, Mr. Lopez’s away. Should I schedule you for next Tuesday? He’ll be back by then.”

“Tuesday’s too late.” Trevor shook his head.
He needed to go today.
He needed to see her.
This was the only excuse he had that wouldn’t raise suspicion.
“Call Ms. Farlane. She’s still in, right?”
“Yes, sir.”
The assistant left with perfect posture and a careful tone.
It was obvious now. Trebor wasn’t just serious–he was frantic to speak to someone. After everything they’d seen between him an Amber lately, the assistant could practically smell a scandal coming.
At Beaumont Legal, Poppy was stunned. And thrilled.
Trevor had come in person. She hadn’t seen that coming.
“Mr. Levine, would you like coffee or tea?”
Trevor sat in the meeting room, eyes scanning the space. “Whatever. Anything’s fine.”
Poppy didn’t take any chances. She went to make him a fresh americano herself.
Trevor leaned forward, searching the room again. Serena wasn’t there. His brows pulled tight.
Poppy walked back in with the coffee and caught the look on his face. She assumed he didn’t like the drink.
She gave a nervous smile. “Would you prefer some tea instead?”
“This is fine.” His voice was cold and flat, but to Poppy, it sounded like he was annoyed with her.
She stepped back and closed the door behind her. “Mr. Levine, may I ask what kind of legal issue you’re here for?”
