“You’ll live without dignity, in a state worse than death. But I’ll make sure someone takes care of you, keeps you alive, strong enough to suffer. This is my final revenge on you, Dad. Are you satisfied?”
Donald’s mouth twisted as tears streamed down his face. He couldn’t stop sobbing.
In just a few short days, his forehead was lined with wrinkles.
Serena didn’t expect that when she stepped out of the hospital room, Sebastian would be waiting for her.
“You’re here.” It was as if this man had a tracker on her, always appearing at exactly the right
moment.
Her lips parted slightly. Serena wasn’t sure how much he had heard, and she wanted to ask him if he thought she had gone too far.
She wasn’t blindly filial. Each time Donald favored her stepmother or Kyana, she lost a little respect for him in her heart. Eventually, the small amount of fatherly love she had in her childhood was completely gone.
When her grandmother died, Donald’s coldness left a mark. Upon learning the truth about her mother’s death, her heart grew colder until it transformed entirely into hatred.
She wasn’t a purely good person. If Sebastian knew the cruelty deep in her bones, would he hate her?
But the man said nothing. He just smiled lightly, lips curved, eyes warm.
“Want to watch a movie tonight?”
In the end, Serena only nodded. “Sure.”
Sebastian, sharp in a perfectly tailored suit, looked oddly out of place at the movie theater. It was even more amusing because he was holding a bucket of popcorn and a soda.
Serena reached out to take them for him, but he stopped her, saying, “Boyfriends do this for their girlfriends. If they can do it, so can I.”

Serena felt her ears burn red as if on fire. From time to time, curious eyes from nearby moviegoers glanced in their direction.
Seeing there were still ten minutes before the movie started, Serena stood up. “I’m going to the
restroom.”
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. This time, he really couldn’t accompany her.
“Go ahead.”
No sooner had she walked away than a few daring girls nearby started inching closer.
Sebastian’s gaze turned sharp. “Don’t come near. I have a wife, and she gets jealous easily. If you come any closer, I won’t be able to explain myself.”
The girls froze. “Maybe we got the wrong person. We thought you were a celebrity, and we just wanted an autograph.”
With that, the girls immediately ran off.
He was handsome, sure, but they thought he might be some star and wanted to try their luck with an autograph. If he really were a celebrity, that would have been a win.
Instead, they had embarrassed themselves.
Handsome as he was, his self–confidence shattered the illusion for the three of them.
Nearby, several people had overheard the commotion and covered their mouths, trying not to laugh.
Serena came jogging back, taking her bag from his arm. “Let’s go in. The movie’s about to
start.”
She glanced suspiciously around, noticing even more eyes now watching them.
