Both Serena and Sebastian were speechless.

She gave the man beside her a suspicious glance, lowering her voice. “The person they were talking about… It wasn’t you, was it?”
Sebastian cleared his throat, pretending to stay calm.
“Of course not. How could I ever talk badly about you? Impossible!” He switched the topic. “Come on, eat your popcorn. The movie’s about to start.”
Guilty, he used the food to keep her quiet.
After the movie ended, Serena seemed rather grumpy. “Sebastian, can you stop being so self- absorbed?”
He looked serious. “I’m not, though. Those women came over, and I didn’t know what they were up to. What if they tried to set me up?”
When his sharp brows softened slightly, and he held her hand, massaging the web between her thumb and forefinger while speaking gently, she thought, Fine, let him be self–absorbed. That’s his only flaw.
Later that night, as his warm body pressed against hers, Serena’s eyes reddened and misted over. She scolded herself silently–she almost forgot that this greedy flaw of his could completely erase all his other virtues!
Serena had planned to keep her distance from him for a couple of days, but that evening, they were going to the Levine Residence for dinner together.
This time, Sebastian held her hand and didn’t leave her side, so Trevor couldn’t make a move on her.
Deanna smirked. “Oh, you’re here too, Serena. I thought after your father went to the hospital, you’d be too upset to eat anything.”
Serena gave a faint smile. “That’s not right, Deanna. Just because someone’s sick at home doesn’t mean I should starve myself too. Is that what being filial means to you?”
Sebastian looked impatiently at the woman. “Deanna, if you have so much free time on your hands, maybe you should get Trevor to give you a grandson.

“You’d be able to babysit, and you wouldn’t have time to be worrying about other people’s family matters.”
Deanna was speechless. That did not make any sense! Sebastian had kicked Amber out of the country, so how were they supposed to start a family?
Her eyes were filled with anger. “Let Amber return, then!”
Sebastian’s tone was cold, edged with light sarcasm. “Deanna, I won’t stop you from going abroad. But if she wants to come back, I won’t agree to it.”
Deanna slumped in her seat, feeling defeated. As expected, Sebastian’s heart was as cold as iron.
Today’s visit to the Levine Residence was for a welcome dinner for Lucinda’s mother, Sophia.
Although Lucinda’s father had passed away many years ago, her mother always visited the Levine family whenever she was in the country.
Carrying a pile of packages, she was the last to arrive.
“Father, it’s been a few months. You look better than ever!”
Bryce chuckled. “Sophia, you really know how to sweet–talk. None of my sons can say a word as well as you. And you come bearing so many gifts each time!”
Of course, Sophia wouldn’t come empty–handed.
Starting with Nathan and Deanna, she handed over their gifts, then glanced at her daughter, and finally, her gaze landed on Serena. “Serena, I wasn’t able to attend your wedding with Sebastian, so this is a gift for your marriage.”
She handed over a hefty gift box.
Even without opening it, Serena could tell it was pretty valuable and felt a bit awkward. She used to call Sophia her aunt, but now, they were practically on equal footing.
