Lucinda gently descended from the storage room on the second floor at the back, then left through the side door on the first floor.
Later, Serena went downstairs and still needed to cover for her best friend.
“Rena, is Lucinda doing alright?” Bryce asked, concern evident.
“She’s fine. Just tired. She already went to sleep.”
Sebastian immediately caught Serena’s evasive eyes. He lifted one brow yet chose not to expose her.
After dinner, as Sebastian was about to take her home, Serena hesitated before suggesting, “Why don’t we stay at the Levine Residence tonight?”
Stay at the Levine Residence? That worked perfectly.
Bryce often complained that the house felt too quiet.
Sebastian’s lips curved faintly. “Alright. We’ll stay here tonight.”
Later, Serena was on the terrace, occasionally glancing at the front gate.
Without warning, Sebastian slid an arm around her waist from behind. “What? Waiting to see if your best friend comes back?”
Serena stiffened. “How did you know?”
Sebastian lowered his head, warm breath brushing her ear as he teased slowly. “Your face practically broadcasts guilt. Besides, Julian just posted a status. Lucinda’s voice is in it.”

Serena tried to twist free, yet he lifted her effortlessly and set her onto the terrace tea table before bending to claim her lips.
The kiss came slow and unhurried, patient and impossibly thorough.
Trevor had just come out of his room when he saw the intertwined silhouettes at the far end of the terrace corridor.
His pupils contracted sharply.
He already knew who they were. Even so, the urge to step closer and see them clearly surged out of control.
The instant he saw her trembling and the man’s strong arms holding her firmly, a sharp, bitter pain flooded his chest.
Jealousy swelled violently, filling his entire rib cage.
Trevor had never seen her appear so captivating. Her blushed cheeks and her body trembling under those kisses almost overwhelmed him.
Sebastian appeared to sense the burning stare behind him. Alertness flashed in his eyes as he glanced over his shoulder.
As soon as he noticed the man looking directly at the woman in his arms, he subtly straightened and fully shielded her from any prying eyes.
Still, his kiss never paused.
Blood hammered in Trevor’s ears. He narrowed his eyes and turned away, no longer able to bear watching.
Regret slammed into him. He had never known that regret could feel this sharp.
Back in his room, the five missed calls deepened the lines on his face.
