Lucinda barely gave it a second thought. She gathered up the gift bags with Julian and headed for the car.

On their way out, Serena checked her phone and broke into a grin.

“Sebastian, change of plans. My cousin’s back in town. I’m going to see him.”

Serena headed to the hotel restaurant, thrilled at the prospect of seeing Blake. The tension of the day melted away the moment she spotted the familiar face there. “Blake, what are you doing back? I thought you were overseas.”

“Just visiting,” Blake replied, offering an easy smile as he stood to greet her. “I’ll stay for a month or so, then head out again.”

Serena, completely unsuspecting, nodded immediately. “Sure! I’m about to go on leave anyway. I’ll put a plan together and show you around.”
