Chapter 341 He Was Afraid of Losing Her

Sebastian narrowed his eyes and asked sharply, “Who is she?”

“Stop pretending, Uncle Sebastian. You know exactly who she is. She already took the special admissions test. How long are you planning to hide it?”

A cold aura radiated from Sebastian, and the words kept echoing in his mind. She already took the special admissions test, but she didn’t tell me about it.

As he thought about it, his eyes were filled with a chilling menace. “I have no obligation to tell you,” he said.

“Uncle Sebastian, you have to explain this clearly to me!”

“Get lost!” Sebastian’s voice turned icy and harsh. “Trevor, don’t make me kick you out of the country too!”

Serena had prepared a table full of dishes that Sebastian loved.

She took out the bottle of red wine she had carefully selected. Rose petals were scattered across the entryway, and a beautiful bouquet sat on the table-flowers she had bought for Sebastian. There was also a small card tucked into it.

There were many words of gratitude she wanted to express to him, but couldn’t say aloud, so she had written them down instead.

Serena sat on the couch and watched the clock’s hands move second by second until it reached

seven.

When she opened the door, Sebastian was nowhere in sight. Then, she checked the flight schedule and realized he should have arrived at six.

Maybe the traffic is heavy, she thought.

However, as Serena waited from six until eight, Sebastian still hadn’t come home.

Unable to hold back, she called him, but no one answered.

Finally, at 9 p.m., she heard the sound of the door handle turning.

Serena was so excited that she ran out barefoot.

Sebastian stood there in silence while pulling a suitcase behind him. The deep crease between his brows made it clear his mood could only be described as terrible.

“Sebastian, what’s wrong?” Serena asked hesitantly as she came close to him. “Did something happen?”

Sebastian lowered his gaze and saw her bare feet standing on the cold tiles. Without a word, he lifted her and set her on the shoe cabinet.

Under the dim light of the entryway, his face was blurred by the light. However, the coldness in his eyes was so tangible that it made Serena tremble.

“How long were you planning to hide your plans of going abroad from me?”

In that split second, her heart skipped a beat.

He knows!

She was completely stunned and stuttered, “Y-You… You knew…”

“Yes.”

He had spent two hours outside calming himself down before coming back. During those two hours, he had someone check her scores.

The exam had been taken on the Saturday when she told him she was working overtime. She hadn’t told him anything about it. Even after the results had come out three days ago, she still hadn’t told him.

He wondered when she would tell him if she hadn’t said anything today. Would it be the day when she left the country?

Since returning to the country and the beginning of this marriage, Sebastian had been painstakingly fighting for it step by step. Every time Serena sent him a message saying she missed him, he would stare at those words for a long time.

From the days she called him Uncle Sebastian to now simply Sebastian, or when she called him her husband in bed… He wondered if all those little changes were fake.

Am I in her heart?

Sebastian could feel hurt too. He wasn’t born strong, he was simply better at digesting his emotions.

Whenever it came to even the smallest thing about Serena, he would handle it with meticulous care. He would think through every single detail and make sure she was looked after in every possible way.

Sebastian doted on her almost like she was his daughter and gave her every bit of affection he could. However, he never dared to imagine or ask whether her liking for him had ever transformed into even the slightest bit of love.

Whenever she faced difficulties, the first person she thought of wasn’t him. Although he had patiently tried to change the way she thought and wished that she would rely on him more, he felt that she still couldn’t fully trust him.
