Sebastian’s voice was slightly hoarse as he spoke, “Serena, how long will it take before you truly trust me? How long will you completely see me as the one you can rely on?”
Serena could hear the faint tremble at the end of his words.
Her eyes reddened, and she said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide it from you for long. I was going to tell you today. I didn’t mean to keep it from you, it’s just that—”
Before she could finish her words, Sebastian let out a scoff and retorted, “You were afraid I’d stop you from going abroad, right? Are you afraid that I’d hold back your future and become an obstacle on your road to success?” As he spoke, his tone gradually grew sharper.
Serena panicked and shook her head. “No, that’s not it, Sebastian. Listen to me!” However, when she saw the coldness in his eyes, her heart was pierced with pain.
“If you’d told me earlier, you wouldn’t have to explain now.”
Sebastian coldly lifted her onto his shoulder and walked straight inside.
When they reached the couch, he frowned slightly and said, “I told you before to wear shoes.”
Serena sensed that he didn’t want to talk to her, and a wave of panic rose inside her. Then, she grabbed his hand and said, “Sebastian, don’t go. I was wrong. Let’s sit down and have a talk.”
“No.” Sebastian pulled his hand away and went upstairs.
Serena knew she had ruined everything. All her plans were completely ruined by herself.
In that split second, tears poured out uncontrollably. She sat alone on the floor and sobbed uncontrollably.
It wasn’t that Sebastian hadn’t noticed the table full of cold dishes or the flowers on the table.
other way. He had seen them, but he was too angry to react in any
Initially, he had only intended to be angry for a couple of minutes, but the moment he put down his suitcase upstairs and thought of her red-rimmed eyes, he cursed under his breath and hurried back downstairs.
As Sebastian looked at the figure curled up on the couch with her head buried between her knees, his heart twisted painfully.
Sebastian, you’re doomed in this life, he thought to himself.

“Stop crying.”

Serena’s tear-streaked face lifted instantly when she heard the deep voice above her. She choked out, “You didn’t leave.”
Sebastian sighed and pulled her onto his lap. He grabbed a tissue from the coffee table and carefully wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. He pretended to be stern with his voice as he said, “I’m not even crying, so why are you crying?”
Serena had cried so hard that she couldn’t stop her body from shaking.
“I just feel sorry for you. I didn’t mean to do it, honey. I didn’t mean to hide it from you.”
“Serena, I don’t like hearing you say sorry or thank you. Every time you say such words, it makes me feel like I’m a stranger to you. I like you acting spoiled with me. I like seeing you smile and calling me honey. I like hearing you say my name even when you’re angry. I like it
all when you reach out to me the moment you encounter a problem. I don’t want you to carry the pressure alone. I hope…” Sebastian stopped for a few seconds. The words felt difficult to say, so he swallowed them back.
“Hope what?” Serena asked as she looked at him through teary eyes.
However, Sebastian had his pride. Thus, he said, “Figure it out yourself.”
Ten minutes later, Serena’s tears had dried up as she calmed down. Then, she asked, “How did you find out?”
“Trevor came to the airport to see me today.”
Hearing this, Serena clenched her teeth in frustration. Only now she knew why Sebastian was so angry. She felt that Trevor was seriously sick in the head.
“I didn’t tell him about it. After the paper copy of my special admissions test results arrived at the law firm, Poppy opened it. She doesn’t like me, so she probably told Trevor about it. Right now, the Levine Studios agency contract is in their group.”
Sebastian squeezed her cheeks hard and said, “If you dared to tell him first and hide it from me, you’d be dead meat.” He trusted her. Thus, even if Trevor tried to stir things up in front of him, he would verify things himself instead of believing Trevor’s nonsense.
