Chapter 406 The Meal
No one knew what it was recording.
The next morning, after breakfast, Sebastian drove Serena to Beaumont Legal.
“Are you still doing lunch with your coworkers today?” he asked.
She shook her head. “I don’t think so.”
“Alright, then I’ll bring you lunch.”
She nodded and headed inside.

But Serena hadn’t expected it would be Sebastian showing up by himself at noon with her lunch.
She slid into the car and saw the little table he had set up. “What are you doing here?”
“Just see if you like it,” he said.
She looked over the small spread. There was a mix of meat and veggies, everything looked balanced and healthy, plus a little appetizer on the side.
“Honey, try the appetizer first.”
She took a bite of the dill pickle spear. It was tangy and sharp, hitting the spot. “Today’s food from Nerrial really hits the right note.”
Dill pickle spear? I’ve never seen that. And this is actually making it onto the Levines‘ table?
Sebastian didn’t answer, just asked, “Do you like it?”
“It’s really good.” Soon, Serena had eaten half of what was on her plate.
After finishing, it clicked. “Did you give the kitchen this recipe?”
She usually didn’t eat much for dinner. Most meals were at the office.
The night before, he had called her coworkers and told them quietly not to say a word to her
He had noted every dish she liked, like her favorite grilled salmon. But pregnant women shouldn’t eat too much salmon, so he had the kitchen swap in another fish, cooked the same way.
“Yeah, I tweaked it a bit based on what you like. How’s it taste?”
Serena threw her arms around him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “This is amazing! Honey, how are you so good to me?”

He gently brushed her delicate nose. “Who was crying yesterday, saying I didn’t love her?”
She giggled. “I just couldn’t get what I wanted to eat. You’re the best.”
After a little moment of cuddling, she got ready to head inside.

She didn’t expect to spot Blake on the way, sitting across from a woman in the cafe, looking clearly annoyed.
Serena hesitated, but he had already spotted her and waved.
The woman across from him tilted her head slightly, then quickly walked away.
“Blake, why didn’t you tell me you were back in the country?” she asked.
He gave a faint smile and had the waiter take the coffee away, replacing it with a cup of warm water. He wasn’t sure if it was safe for a pregnant woman to drink coffee. “I just got back to take care of a few thing thought I’d come see you a little later.”
Her expression shifted. Something about this didn’t feel so simple.
“Rena, did you have your first prenatal checkup yet? How was it?”
She chuckled lightly. “Not yet. It should be going soon. Blake, how long are you planning to stay this tim
Blake smiled softly. “Not long. Won’t be too long.”
They exchanged a few more words. Serena wasn’t that close to the Murphys yet. Since they’d always been abroad, she naturally didn’t have as much contact with him as she did with people back home.
