Chapter 408 Coveting Her Shares

Lucinda was in the afternoon when Deanna said she wanted to drop by. She couldn’t really say no, so she agreed.

Deanna saying she’s coming to see me is a lie. Coming to grill me about the shares, that’s the truth.

“Deanna, if you’re coming, just come. Why bring so much stuff? You didn’t have to go to all that trouble.” She smiled brightly.

Deanna set her things down and pretended to glance at Adelina before looking around. “Julian’s not home, huh?”

Lucinda blinked. “He’s busy in the study. Were you looking for him?”

“Sigh, why would I be looking for him? I came to see you today.” Once Deanna confirmed Julian wouldn’t be coming out, Deanna cut straight to the point. “Lucinda, I heard your grandpa transferred ten percent of the company to you last week?”

Lucinda peeled a lychee slowly and popped it into her mouth. “Yeah. Deanna, want some lychee?”

Deanna gave a tight–lipped smile. “I don’t eat, you eat.” But she clenched her palm a little tighter. “Lucinda, your grandpa really spoils you, huh?”

Lucinda pursed her lips in a smile. “Yeah. My grandpa said this was meant for my dad. After he passed, it could only go to me. And I’ve got a little money myself, so nobody in my husband’s family can push me around, right, Deanna?”

People’s hearts are the hardest thing to control. I know grandpa thought this through. He’s telling the Hills that, even if I marry, I’ll still be his favorite granddaughter.

“Yeah, I know. Amber didn’t have that luck back then…” Deanna said with a sigh.

Lucinda’s smile faded. “Deanna, that’s not fair. The Levines never shortchanged Amber. Didn’t grandpa even send her abroad to study? But she had her own issues and cheated on Trevor, remember? I heard her trial just wrapped up, probably close to a verdict.”

Deanna’s expression darkened. Being called out by a younger family member was a little hard to swallow. “Yeah,” she said, trying to steer the conversation back. “But Trevor still doesn’t have any shares either, right?”

Lucinda raised an eyebrow. “Deanna, isn’t Uncle Nathan doing fine?”

Deanna suddenly went silent.

Is this little girl cursing Nathan?

She hadn’t gotten anything out of Lucinda. Her little escape from home didn’t earn her any soothing words from Nathan. On the contrary, she lost ten percent of her shares. She’d already had another huge fight with him.
