Chapter 44 Rejection
“What do you want me to do so you’ll stop being angry, calm down, and marry me?”
Serena studied his face–the one she had once loved. Now, all she saw was restlessness and irritation.
She smiled lightly. “Trevor, do you even want to marry me? Do you love me? Do you actually want me as your wife?”

The question clearly caught him off guard. He cleared his throat twice and looked away. “We’re already engaged. Of course, we should get married.”
So that was it. Marriage because an engagement existed.
Serena smiled again. “Then after we’re married, can you promise you’ll never contact Amber again?”
Trevor looked back at her, speaking slowly, each word weighed down. “Serena, I’ve said this before. Amber and I are close. I will never abandon my sister.”
Serer.a lowered her eyes and shrugged. “So you don’t love me, yet you expect me to accept that even after marriage, you’ll keep crossing lines with Amber behind my back. Why would I marry someone like that?”
The sadness in her gaze disappeared. Her eyes turned cold. “I’m not marrying you. I’d rather marry a dog. Trevor, did you hear me?”
She tore her wrist free from his grip and went upstairs without turning back.
Trevor stood there, staring at her retreating figure. Is she really serious about ending it?
Nathan had arranged a round of golf with Donald.
Only five days left until Trevor and Rena’s wedding,” Nathan said with a laugh. “Looks like we’re finally becoming family.”
Donald responded without hesitation. “Yes. Being able to marry Trevor is Serena’s blessing.”
fter a swing, Nathan tested the waters casually. “But they still haven’t gone to register, right? Donald, have you checked in with
Serena?”
Jonald pressed his lips together briefly. “They’re just busy. My mother hasn’t been well lately, and Serena was raised by her grandmother. Her emotions might be unstable. It’s nothing serious. We’ll hold the wedding first”
What Donald said and what he avoided saying made the message clear The wedding was still going ahead.
Nathan relaxed, letting out a quiet breath
I heard you’ve been looking into bank financing lately?”
Jonald’s expression tightened before he forced a laugh “Yes. A few projects are waiting on payments, but it’s manageable”
Nathan didn’t challenge him “I’m interested in your resort development Have your team speak with Mr. Edison front our nvestment division tomorrow.”

Donald was overjoyed. He had known that once the Levine family was involved, the company’s funding issues would disappear.
Just as expected, the money was already falling into place.
“Excellent. I’ll have them follow up right away.”
The next morning, the moment Serena stepped into Beaumont Legal, she saw Eugene glowing with excitement.
“Serena, you’re here. Did you eat breakfast? If not, go downstairs and grab something first.”
On any other day, being even a minute late would earn a lecture about discipline and professionalism.
