Chapter 440 Protecting Her and Their Babies
Chapter 440 Protecting Her and Their Babies
If Amber hadn’t been consumed by hier own fixation, her life might have taken a far gentler path.
But that was never going to happen.
Nathan and Deanna arranged her funeral in the simplest way possible, keeping everything understated.

Deanna was devastated by Amber’s passing. She had raised the girl with her own hands, and even without a blood connection, the pain was just as real.
Both Nathan and Trevor were aware of the full truth, yet neither chose to tell her.
“Yvonne is beyond cruel. She’s already lost her own daughter-why drag Amber down and destroy her too?”
Nathan offered no response. Instead, he lit a candle and placed it before Amber’s gravestone.
In quiet reflection, he wished that in another life, Amber would be born into a loving family, grow up surrounded by warmth, never be consumed by obsession, and live with freedom.
Trevor’s expression remained unreadable. He had returned specifically for this, standing in front of the grave for a long time without moving.
It felt as if Amber’s death erased the first twenty-six years of his existence, dragging him back to the very beginning.
“Trevor, come back home with me,” Since Deanna had already separated from Nathan, the “home” she referred to was her own family residence.
Trevor shook his head. “Mom, if things aren’t good here, you can come abroad with me.”
The suggestion made her hesitate.
“I’ll think about it.”
After that, both Trevor and Nathan became noticeably more reserved.
Trevor did not return to Steele Residence. Using work as an excuse, he left for abroad almost immediately, and no one knew what he was truly feeling.
Inside prison, Gavin learned of Amber’s death and completely lost control.
He raved like a man out of his mind, repeatedly striking himself while shouting, “This is all your fault! You caused everything!”
Serena’s final trimester was especially difficult, so she began her maternity leave early and stayed at home, waiting for her babies
to arrive.
Sebastian brought his entire workload back home as well.
At times, he would take her out for short walks. When she suffered from leg cramps, he would gently massage her legs to ease the pain.

And whenever Serena struggled to sleep, he would hold her close like she was a child, open a book, and read to her in a calm, soothing voice.
One week before her due date, Serena woke in the middle of the night once again.
“What’s wrong?”
She shook her head softly. “I need to go to the bathroom”
Sebastian guided her there. “Go ahead.”
Even though they had shared intimacy and were preparing to welcome their children into the world, she still felt a lingering sense of awkwardness and discomfort at the thought of using the bathroom in front of him.
Gripping the support bar, Serena frowned. “Go out. I can’t do this while you’re standing there.”
Sebastian pressed his lips together. “Alright, I won’t watch.”
As he said that, he turned around, pretending to cooperate.
“Get out,” she insisted, biting her lip.
He refused to leave and even started whistling, clearly teasing her. Frustrated, Serena lifted her foot and gave him a light kick.
“Fine, fine. I’ll wait outside. Call me when you’re done.”
“Okay.”
In truth, she hadn’t really needed to go–her stomach just felt unsettled. After sitting for a short while, she stepped out.
Sebastian carefully helped her back to bed, laying her on her side before gently kissing her forehead.
“Go back to sleep, honey.”
She woke up groggily later and checked the time on her phone-it was only six in the morning.
As she turned, she noticed movement beside her.
