Kyana trembled with rage. “It hurts! Serena, how dare you hit me? Again! Last time it was hot water, now it’s a slap. Dad! Mom! Are you just going to stand there?”

Her shriek ended as the elevator doors slid open.

The first floor was crowded with people waiting for the elevator.
