Chapter 76 Amber Ought to Thank Her
“You all pressured her step by step, and now somehow it’s her fault?”
Lucinda planted herself firmly, defending her best friend. She refused to stand by white anyone spoke ill of Serena
“Lucy, don’t put it that way. I know you and Serena are close, but we’re still your family,” Deanna hurried to clarity
Lucinda curled her lip, skepticism written across her face. Bryce caught every flicker of doubt in her expression.

“That’s enough!” Bryce snapped, turning his attention back to Deanna. “Rena wanted to call off the engagement before all of this happened. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Did you really think you could hide it from me just because I’m not in my best of health?” he pressed.
“Or were you hoping to humiliate me today, make a scene, and send me to an early grave in the process?”
The last trace of his irritation toward Serena disappeared.
It turned out she had wanted to be honest a long time ago. The ones who had been keeping secrets were them, trying to sneak past
the truth.
“Is marriage some kind of game? If Serena has completely lost trust in your son, do you think I can force her to marry Trevor?”
“You wouldn’t have threatened her, ordered Donald to drag her home, would you?”
Deanna rushed to deny it. “Dad, no, of course not. We would never do something like that.
‘Do you really think so little of us?”
Bryce snorted, anger simmering. “Don’t blame me for thinking that way. Look at the son you raised–look at the nonsense he’s gotten away with!”
His frustration mounted as he remembered more, but then he realized someone was missing.
‘Lucy, where is your Uncle Sebastian?”
Lucinda blinked, her eyes wide and glistening. “Grandpa, didn’t you send Uncle Sebastian to take Rena to the hospital?”
Only then did Bryce remember.
‘Tomorrow, you’re coming with me to visit Madam Morland. She was closest to your mom and grandma.”
Nathan and Deanna didn’t dare refuse, answering in unison, “Yes.”
After Trevor hustled Amber out of the wedding, his face darkened, veins standing out on the hand gripping the steering wheel.
The car sped up, the dashboard beeping repeatedly to warn him he was over the limit.
Amber clutched her seat belt, her face pale. “Trevor, y–you’re driving too fast.”

Her caution only seemed to fuel his anger. The road stretched out straight and empty before them. It wasn’t until they reached a red light ten minutes later that Trevor finally calmed down.
He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, expression softening slightly. “Sorry, Amber. Did I scare you just now?”
Amber forced a stiff smile. “No. Trevor, I understand. You’re just in a bad mood.”
If Serena had been sitting there, she wouldn’t have spoken so meekly.
She would have set her beautiful face in a firm line and lectured him about traffic laws–and all the consequences of ignoring them.
