Though hearing someone call Serena his “nephew’s ex–fiancee” irritated Sebastian, he was quite happy that “she was pursuing
him.”
‘Mm.”
Julian flashed a wicked grin. “Ohhh, so you mean she ran off halfway through chasing you? That’s easy. She’s 26–six years your han you. Backing out is perfectly normal if she thinks you’re too old.”
A vein popped at Sebastian’s temple. His voice dropped to a dangerous chill. “Julian Hill, are you ready to meet your maker?” Before Julian could answer, the phone on the table buzzed. Sebastian lowered his gaze, and instantly the icy edge in his express softened.

Julian, watching his friend do a one–eighty, was stumped. Who exactly is chasing whom here?!
Serena stood in front of the door, gripping her phone, nerves fluttering in her chest. She rang the bell. He lifted a brow. “Mm. We agreed on nine. Why’d you come early? Eager to see me, Rena?”
Serena was rendered at a loss for words. Is it me, or is the usually disciplined and restrained Mr. Sebastian suddenly becoming, not so restrained?
She cleared her throat and lowered her gaze to her shoes. “It’s not that early. Only ten minutes.”
“Mm.”
His clean, fresh scent lingered in the air as he turned.
“Come in.”
Serena watched his tall frame and the glimpse of toned calf revealed by the robe before sliding inside and closing the door.
