Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 140

Hester eventually decided to seek professional help.

She asked Neil to find a reliable child psychologist who could gently evaluate Caden at home.

Neil was incredibly efficient.

By the fourth day, he arrived at the penthouse with Dr. Fiona Fuller.

The moment Hester laid eyes on Fiona, she felt a spark of recognition.

"Dr. Fuller... have we met?"

Fiona smiled, her eyes crinkling warmly. There was an effortless, disarming charm about her. "You might be familiar with the director, Lucille?"

Hester gasped in pleasant surprise. "You're her daughter!"

"I am," Fiona chuckled. "My family always says I look the most like my mother out of all her kids."

"You definitely have her eyes," Hester said, genuinely delighted. "I'm a massive fan of her films and stage plays."

"If you'd like, I can bring her along next time and we can all grab coffee?"

Hester smiled gently. "Oh, I couldn't impose on her schedule like that."

"How about I get you an autographed poster, then?"

"That," Hester laughed, "I will absolutely accept."

The two women hit it off instantly. After a pleasant chat, Fiona finally shifted gears to evaluate Caden. She asked the boy a series of standard questions, which Caden answered happily and obediently. He seemed perfectly normal.

But when Fiona gently asked him how he hurt his head, Caden's face crumpled in confusion. He looked up at Hester. "Mommy, how did I hurt my head?"

Hester looked back at him. "You really don't remember?"

"Nope!" Caden scrunched his nose, trying his hardest to think. "Did I break my brain?"

Fiona immediately laughed. "I think your little brain is working perfectly fine."

"Thank you."

After adding each other, Fiona took her leave.

Over the next two days, Caden's condition remained wonderfully stable. Seeing him eat well, sleep soundly, and regain the color in his cheeks brought Hester genuine peace.

Julian had been out of the country for ten days now.

Hester didn't care in the slightest; frankly, she wished he would just stay away permanently.

Between a pregnant woman and a recovering child, their little makeshift family was incredibly cozy. With Lena and Celeste managing the household, life was peaceful and quiet.

But that peace was agonizingly short-lived.

On the twelfth day, Julian Weston returned to Northwood City.

And shockingly, he didn't come back alone. He brought someone with him—Caden's biological mother, Seraphina Simpson.
