It hurt like hell!
Julian glanced up at her, his brows knitting together. "Bear with it for a second. It'll pass."
Hester bit her lip, refusing to make another sound.
This was her first severe leg cramp of this pregnancy, and of course, it had to happen right when he was here.
His technique was flawless. He had perfected it years ago when she was pregnant with the twins.
Back then, starting around her fifth month, her ankles had swollen terribly, and she'd been plagued by sudden, agonizing midnight cramps. Julian had specifically taken her to a top-tier holistic healer, dedicating himself to learning the proper acupressure and massage techniques to relieve her pain.
She hadn't expected that, even after five years, he would remember the exact method so perfectly.
Hester stared at his perfectly sculpted hands, pressing her lips tightly together as she forced herself to snap out of the bittersweet memory.
Under his steady pressure, the agonizing knot in her calf slowly began to release.
He didn't pull away. Instead, he seamlessly transitioned into massaging the rest of her leg.
As his fingertips trailed higher, Hester flushed with indignation and slapped his hand away.
Julian glanced down at the red mark she'd just left on his skin, then slowly met her eyes. "Your legs are swollen. If we don't work the fluid out now, they'll be twice as big when you wake up."
"I can do it myself. Get out."
Julian raised an eyebrow, his gaze locking onto hers. "Don't punish your own body just to prove a point to me. You're the one who'll suffer."
She glared back at him. "Just looking at you is making me suffer."
Julian fell silent.
He pressed his lips together, letting out a soft, resigned sigh. "You walked way too much today. This needs to be dealt with."
With that, he stood up and walked straight out of the bedroom.
Hester had no idea what he was planning.
But she knew whatever he wanted to do, she probably couldn't stop him.
