"I'm not lying to you," Seraphina insisted, her tone unwavering. "The reason I never brought it up is because the 'Clio' account holds a lot of painful memories for me. It wasn't something I wanted to talk about."
"Well, you have to talk about it now. If I can't explain this to the executives and Mr. Hale, I'm out of a job!"
Seraphina let out a heavy, rehearsed sigh. "The truth is, my ex-boyfriend and I started the 'Clio' account together. He handled the filming, and I was the creative director. At first, it was amazing. But then... he cheated on me. I couldn't forgive him, so I ended things. After the breakup, he locked me out of the account, so I had no choice but to start over from scratch with a new one."
Bianca sounded skeptical. "I checked Clio's analytics. Even though the videos were posted overseas years ago, the views and follower counts were massive. I get why he wouldn't let you use it, but why didn't he keep monetizing it all these years?"
"He..." Seraphina paused for dramatic effect. "He died in a terrible accident shortly after."
Bianca was stunned into silence.
"That account is tied to so many memories of us," Seraphina murmured sadly. "But he betrayed me, and that hurt. Plus, since he passed away... I figured I should respect the dead. He didn't want me using the account, so I let it rest. It was my final peace offering to him."
Bianca didn't say a word.
Seraphina waited, staring at her fresh "Black Cherry" manicure, her beautiful eyes cold and calculating.
"Bianca," she added softly, playing the vulnerable card. "I don't know why people suddenly dug up the old account. But since they did, why don't we use the momentum? We can ride this wave of controversy, and when the show airs, we'll find the perfect, dramatic moment for me to address it publicly."
"Isn't that too risky?" Bianca hesitated.
Seraphina knew Bianca probably didn't buy her sob story entirely. But faced with public pressure and the expectations of their investors, the agent didn't have much of a choice. Bianca would weigh the pros and cons and ultimately choose to go along with the lie.
