Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 265

The wind on the roof was strong. Hester instinctively pulled her trench coat tighter around herself.

She stopped walking and glared at him.

"Whatever you want to say, make it quick."

Julian came to a halt and finally released her wrist.

She rubbed her skin, her expression laced with impatience. "Talk."

He looked at her, his jaw tightening slightly before he spoke. "I will handle Seraphina's matters. I want you to stop interacting with her from now on."

Hester let out an incredulous laugh. "You dragged me all the way up here just to say that?"

"Just remember what I told you."

"You are completely hopeless," she spat, turning to leave.

He reached out, catching her arm. "Hester..."

"Let go of me!"

She forcefully swatted his hand away, spinning back to face him, her eyes brimming with profound disappointment. "When Caden got hurt this badly, I thought maybe, as a grown adult, you'd have a normal human reaction. But no! You still defend her blindly! You genuinely make me sick!"

"This situation is unique," he countered, his expression grave. "Listen to me. Stay out of her business. As for Caden, I'll arrange for the best specialists. But when he needs you, I hope you'll still cooperate."

"Listen carefully, Julian."

She glared at him, her eyes like shards of ice. "Ever since she returned to the country, she has been the one coming after me. It was like that in Northwood, and it's like that here in Coralton. You're telling me to stay out of her business? She's the one provoking me!"

"I meant, you need to stop having people investigate her past."
