Chapter 159 The Crystal Rainforest

“Goodnight, Riley.”

“Night.”

Early next morning.

Dappled sunlight filtered through the cracks in the deadwood.

“Screech! Screech!”

At the entrance of the hollow, a “tragic” farewell was underway.

Dozens of Crimson Gold Mask-Apes were clinging to TartKing’s robes-some hugging her legs, others hanging from her arms- staring at the “God of Sweets” with teary eyes and pitiful cries.

The message was clear: Oh God! Don’t leave us! Who will feed us?!

Riley leaned against a trunk, arms crossed, enjoying the show.

“They don’t miss you. They miss the sugar.”

TartKing chuckled helplessly and pulled out several family-sized bags of Mixed Biscuits (stat-less, bulk version) and waved them at the King.

“We’ll be back, don’t worry.”

The Ape King’s eyes locked onto the bags instantly.

Riley stepped forward at the right moment.

“Listen up.”

She pointed to the biscuits, then to the surrounding forest.

“These are for you. But, we’re making a deal.”

She pulled out a stalk of Styxroot and gestured to the apes.

“From now on, you gather this stuff in the woods. Herbs, ores, even those big chests-bring them all to this hollow and keep them

safe.

“When we come back,” she pointed to TartKing, “we’ll bring way more sweets to trade.

“A fair trade for both sides. Got it?”

The Ape King might not speak human, but it had fully grasped the concept of a “trade” last night.

It looked at the mountain of biscuits.

Chapter 159 The Crystal Rainforest

Just pick some weeds and haul some heavy boxes in exchange for treats? That’s a steal!

“Screech!” (“Deal!”)

The King gave a command, and the apes instantly let go. They lined up to receive their parting gifts from TartKing before respectfully watching the two “VIPS” depart.

“Done.”

Riley dusted off her hands. “Let’s go. Hopefully, these monkeys aren’t as greedy as i am.”

“Hehe, let’s head out!”

They didn’t rush, instead wandering aimlessly through the forest. With the magic map active, there was little risk of getting lost.

Since the grove was at the edge of the deadwood zone, it didn’t take long for the scenery to undergo a radical shift.

If the Deadwood Grove was black and white, the path ahead was a technicolor explosion.

As they crested a ridge, the view opened up entirely.

“Woah…”

TartKing gasped, and even Riley narrowed her eyes in wonder.

It was a Crystal Rainforest.

The trees here weren’t dead and grey; they were translucent and crystalline. The massive trunks looked like they were carved from emerald and amber. Sunlight filtered through the canopy, refracting into a thousand rainbows that made the whole forest glow.

The air was filled with glowing spores that looked like dandelion seeds. They were tiny, pulsing with pink, blue, and violet light as they drifted on the breeze like a never-ending rain of light.

Even more incredible were the “Floating Isles” hanging about fifty meters above them.

Massive floating boulders covered in vines and waterfalls hung in the air. The water cascaded down, turning into mist before it hit the ground, nourishing the exotic flora below.

“This is gorgeous…”

TartKing reached out to catch a pink spore. “Is this a fairy tale or what?”

A second later.

The spore exploded the moment it touched her glove. It wasn’t magical; it was a burst of pale green acid.

Sizzle-

A wisp of smoke rose from her glove’s fingertips, and the durability dropped by 1 point.

“Holy crap!”
