Chapter 215 The Blacksmith’s Deal
Chapter 215 The Blacksmith’s Deal
Joseph stepped into the radius and felt the change in temperature.
Sure enough.
Though the blizzard still howled nearby, the wind turned as warm as a spring day the moment he crossed the line.
“How… how is this possible?!”
Joseph was stunned.
He tentatively peeled off his ragged belt coat, feeling a warmth that reminded him of a midsummer afternoon.
“There is no fire… why is it so warm?”
The young baker’s apprentice even reached out to touch the air, searching for an invisible stove.
“Don’t worry about how it works. Just know that it’s always spring in this circle,” Riley said.
She led the three toward the mine.
The mine wasn’t far, and they arrived shortly.
She looked at the dilapidated support structures at the entrance; by the time she finished this, it would be dark.
“It’s warm inside, but you still need protection from the nocturnal ghouls.”
Riley opened her construction panel.

Because this was marked as Guild Territory, she could use basic system building functions, which wasn’t possible out in the open
wastes.
“Consumed: Stone x 50, Lumber x 30”
“Constructing: Simple Stone Wall (with Large Wooden Gate)”
With a wave of Riley’s hand.
A six-foot-tall stone wall rose from the ground instantly, enclosing the mine entrance and leaving only a thick wooden door for
access.
“Miracle! A miracle of earth magic!”
Joseph cried out once again. All the wonders he’d seen in his entire life didn’t compare to what he’d witnessed in the last hour.
Riley pulled three sets of Thick Wool Blankets and some basic living supplies from her bag and tossed them over.
“Sleep here tonight. It’s safe as long as you keep the door locked. The monsters outside can’t get in.
“Also…”
Riley’s gaze swept across the warm soil surrounding her camp’s outer walls.

teaving this land fallow would be a total waste.
“Joseph,” Riley called out
“I am here, my lady! Your command?” Joseph scrambled to his feet.
“You’re a blacksmith?”
“Yes! I have worked iron my whole life!” Joseph held out his calloused hands.
“Do you know anything about farming?”
“Farming? Umm… a bit. When the forge was quiet, I helped my family with the potatoes.”
Riley nodded.
With a flick of her wrist, she produced several old Hoes and Shovels she had replaced, along with some mining tools.
“Starting tomorrow, you have three tasks.”
Riley held up three fingers, her tone turning stern.
“First, you will clear the land around my stone walls and plant crops.
“Second, you will mine coal as payment for your rent and protection.

“Third, patrol the immediate area in your spare time. If you find any locked chests, bring them to me. Otherwise, survive using your own skills. If you need something, come to me.”
Riley’s voice was cold, but to Joseph, it sounded like heavenly music.
Rent? Protection fees?
This made total sense!
If this powerful Wizard had asked for nothing and fed them for free, Joseph wouldn’t have been able to sleep, fearing he’d be used for some dark ritual. D
But a “trade” meant they had value!
And if they had value, they would be allowed to live!
“By your command, my lady!”
୮
Joseph was moved to tears. “We will work with everything we have! Forget mining-we will dig through the mountain itself before we slack off!”
The two youths behind him nodded frantically. “I can farm! I’m the best with crops!”
Riley gave a satisfied nod.
“Good.”
