Chapter 294 Into the Magma

“There’s no way, I clearly saw Riley trailed off mid-sentence.
The palm-sized mirror lay quietly in her hand.

She flipped it over. There was no white light, no sea of clouds, no strange reflection. The mirror was completely blank once again.
It was just that plain, ugly black stone mirror, incapable of showing even a basic reflection like before.
The twisted tentacle carvings on its edge were stiff and lifeless, no longer twitching at al
Is everything that’s happened truly nothing but an illusion?
No.
It can’t be.
“Huff…”
Riley closed her eyes and rubbed her temples hard, forcing herself to calm down.
PineappleBeer noticed her strange behavior and spoke up.
“Riley, what’s wrong? You look really off.”
“Did something just happen?” Riley asked them.
“Happen? Nothing at all.” TartKing reached out worriedly, intending to feel her forehead.
“You zoned out staring at this mirror for ages. We called you multiple times, but you didn’t respond. You just stared blankly ahead- it was creepy.”
“I’m fine.”
When Riley opened her eyes again, the panic in her gaze faded, replaced by her usual calm composure.
“I got pulled into an illusion just now. Or more accurately, the mirror dragged me into a consciousness spare.”
“A consciousness space?” PineappleBeer’s expression turned serious. “What was it like?”
“There was a sea of clouds, and a projection of a demon god named Baal.”
Riley gave them a quick recap of her experience.
She told them about the demon that acted like a sketchy salesman pushing the mask, the terrifying hell illusion, and how she finally saw through the trick.
After hearing the whole story, both PineappleBeer and TartKing went pale.
PineappleBeer gasped softly. “If it had been anyone else, they would’ve either gone insane in the illusion or put on that mask and become the demon’s puppet.

That was way too dangerous.”
TartKing quickly lifted her hand. Soft holy light shimmered on her palm as she checked Riley’s condition.
Gentle rays washed over Riley’s body.
“Thank god. All your stats are normal. There’s no sign of possession or curse.” TartKing let out a relieved breath.
“He couldn’t possess me that easily.” Riley shook her head.
“He needs me to have strong desires to take control of my body. Besides, I’m back now. I should be completely fine.”
She chose not to mention Baal’s final words about meeting again. She didn’t want to worry her friends over an uncertain threat.
Riley’s gaze drifted back to the mirror in her hand.
This thing was nothing but hot garbage.
She had won this time, but who knew what the mirror would do next? It could mess with her while she slept, or strike when her mental guard was low.
And she still remembered Baal’s chilling line-no one could stay free of obsession forever.
This cursed item that tempted people into corruption was nothing but a ticking time bomb.
“This thing can’t stay.” Riley’s tone was firm and unwavering.
“Should we throw it away?” PineappleBeer suggested.
“Where though? If some random unlucky person picks it up, we might get another Nightshade on our hands.”
“Then we toss it somewhere no one can ever retrieve it.”
Riley turned around and strode toward the edge of the altar.
Beneath them bubbled a violent lake of magma.
The heat was enough to melt anything and everything.
“Goodbye, mask salesman.”
Without a single moment of hesitation, she flicked her wrist.
Swoosh-
The Divine Mirror traced a sleek black arc through the air.
It twisted mid-flight, letting out a high-pitched buzzing shriek as if sensing its incoming destruction.
A second later…
