He really did listen to Marie.

Victoria grew even more incensed. “Natalie, as a housewife, you can’t even take care of your mother-in-law or your own child, yet you still have the nerve to compare yourself to Marie? What right do you have? Do you possess her abilities? Right now, Marie is on her way to sign the contract with the Fairchild Conglomerate. And because of you, she hasn’t even had a proper breakfast. How is she supposed to conquer the business world on an empty stomach?”

“Mom, Natalie doesn’t understand the business world. She doesn’t know how important the Fairchild partnership is to the Cross Group,” Marie said, glancing at the Patek Philippe on her wrist before adding arrogantly, “It’s not too late for me to go now. Darren, let’s go.”

Darren looked at Natalie, his eyes filled with a deep, searching look. His sweet, obedient little wife... had she grown fangs overnight? Or was he just imagining things?

Just as Marie was about to sweep out of the room, Darren’s phone rang.

“What did you say? The Fairchild Conglomerate canceled the partnership with the Cross Group!”

Darren’s words sent a shockwave through Marie and Victoria.

Victoria stammered in a panic, “How could this be? The deal was already settled. Why would they cancel it now?”

Marie was agitated. “How should I know? I’ll go and see what’s going on.”

As Marie and Darren rushed out, Victoria turned on Natalie, pointing an accusatory finger. “This is all your fault! If you had just made breakfast on time, none of this would have happened!”

Natalie’s expression was unruffled. “But you said Marie was incredibly capable, and that the Ward family was so powerful. You said the Fairchild family was only working with us because of them. Surely the Ward family couldn’t have collapsed in the time it takes to make breakfast, right?”

The remark left Victoria speechless with fury.

“You... you... you’d better pray that this deal isn't dead, or I’ll make you pay.”

Victoria stormed off in a huff. Natalie called after her calmly, “Mother, aren’t you going to have breakfast?”
