Natalie looked at Mrs. Lockwood, confused by her meaning.
“My son may be in a wheelchair, but he’s the head of the Lockwood Group. He’s handsome, powerful, and capable. A man like him could marry any woman he wants. Why would he choose a divorcée with a child? That’s prejudice for you.”
Mrs. Lockwood’s eyes bored into Natalie, who didn’t look away.
“But after seeing you, I’m starting to think my son and my grandchildren have excellent taste.”
Natalie’s brow furrowed slightly. So, Mrs. Lockwood… still misunderstood?
“Mrs. Lockwood, you’ve really got it wrong.”
“Are you saying you haven’t fallen for my son? Because he has clearly taken an interest in you. This whole story about helping you out by pretending? Impossible. My son is cold and ruthless. Someone could drop dead in front of him and he wouldn’t even bat an eye. You think he’d put himself in the middle of a scandal just to help you?” Mrs. Lockwood raised an eyebrow, a cunning smile on her face. “My son isn’t that noble.”
Terence: “…”
Just as Mrs. Lockwood was speaking, Terence arrived with the two children in tow.
His face was grim. He had managed to handle his grandmother but hadn't counted on his mother showing up.
“You managed to capture my son’s heart. I’m quite surprised, considering he’s always been hung up on…”
Just then, Terence cut in.
“Lucas, Liana, your grandmother is here.”
Lucas and Liana ran over to Mrs. Lockwood, delighted to see her. To them, their grandmother was the most beautiful and best grandmother in the world.
“Grandma!”
“Lucas, Liana, my darlings.”
