But Natalie never expected to run into Victoria on her way to the retirement home.
Victoria spotted Natalie and rushed over. "Natalie, you're a hard person to find."
Natalie pretended not to see her and tried to walk past, but Victoria blocked her path.
"You think you can just walk away? I have a score to settle with you!"
Natalie laughed at Victoria's words. "Settle a score? How wonderful. How much are you planning to pay me? After all, I'm the one who cured your paralysis. And what about all those years I worked as your family's maid? I thought you were going to skip out on the bill, but here you are, ready to settle our accounts. Your integrity has certainly improved!"
Natalie's words made Victoria furious.
"Natalie, you've become quite sharp-tongued! How dare you? How dare you do what you did? Hanley was supposed to get that spot in the gifted program, and you sabotaged it. How can you stand here and say these things to my face?"
"Hanley ranked third. How could he have been accepted? I don't have that much power to pull him down."
"That girl is a mute! The junior division of Project IronMind was already leaning towards admitting Hanley. But then you had to go and say you could cure her muteness, that she could speak within three months. You're full of fantasies, spouting whatever nonsense comes to your head."
"That's because I have a conscience. That little girl has to work harder than anyone else because she can't speak. Why should her achievement be handed over to someone else just because of her condition?"
"'Someone else'? He's your son! What kind of mother are you?"
"Oh, now you remember he's my son? What did you used to tell me? You said my humble background made me unfit to raise him, that Marie Ward should be the one to educate him. You said all I needed to do was cook and clean for him like a maid. Was he even my son then?"
"Natalie, if you go back and apologize to Hanley right now, and start brewing my medicine for me again and taking good care of me, I might convince my son to overlook your past mistakes and take you back."
Victoria couldn't afford to be stubborn anymore. She had been feeling worse and worse lately—dizzy, nauseous, and utterly miserable. She had to get Natalie back to serve them, no matter what.
After all, Natalie was far more cost-effective than a maid.
"Didn't your precious new daughter-in-law find a doctor for you? Let her brew your medicine. Why are you looking for me? I come from a humble background and have no education. Would you dare to take medicine prescribed by someone like me?"
Natalie turned to leave, but Victoria grabbed her arm and shouted, "Everyone, come and see! This daughter-in-law is abusing her mother-in-law! She's taken my life-saving medicine. She's trying to murder me for my money!"

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
