Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 163

“Oh.”

Natalie just nodded, saying nothing more. Her expression didn't even flicker.

She wasn't the least bit concerned that she had just missed out on ten million dollars.

“You just found out you lost ten million dollars, and you’re not even a little surprised?”

“Even if it was ten million, it wasn't mine to take. Why should I be surprised?”

Nicholas pressed on, unconvinced. “You think I’m lying to you, don’t you? You think he’s just some ordinary old man and couldn’t possibly have ten million in his account. That’s why you’re so calm.”

“In the past, I might have thought you were joking. But now that I know your grandfather is the chairman of the Fairchild Conglomerate, it’s not surprising that his friend would have ten million dollars.”

Nicholas frowned. This woman wasn’t stupid.

So what was her game? Was she getting close to those old folks on purpose?

“So you guessed he wasn't just some ordinary old man. You rejected his money right away. Are you playing the long game?”

Faced with his suspicion, Natalie showed no sign of displeasure. She replied with composure, “I’m not interested in playing games. You’re overthinking things.”

“You’re so good to that group of old people, but you’ve never thought about getting anything from them?”

“You’re the sole heir to the Fairchild family, and you don’t want to inherit your family’s fortune. Why do you assume I want to gain something from them?”

Her question left Nicholas speechless. He didn’t want to inherit the family business; he wanted freedom.

But she was different from him. Shouldn't she want more money?

What truly baffled him was that even after he had laid his suspicions bare, she remained completely unperturbed.

There was no panic of a lie being exposed, nor the anger of being falsely accused.

Back at the nursing home.

“Natalie wouldn’t take my money.”

Keith Wycliffe, a former underworld kingpin, sounded dejected. Old Mr. Fairchild scolded him, “You shouldn’t have pulled out a bank card in the first place. Don’t you know what kind of person Natalie is? Did you really think she’d accept your money, let alone ten million dollars?”

Rebecca Collins, the former head of the Umbra Network, added, “You nearly blew your cover. It’s one thing that Mr. Fairchild’s identity is out, but we can’t have anyone else being exposed. Otherwise, Natalie will start suspecting all of us.”

Old Mr. Fairchild said, “Natalie is so dedicated to us because she thinks we’re a group of lonely, helpless old people. If she finds out we’re not just ordinary folks, she might think we don’t need her and stop coming.”

“That’s very likely.”

“So, from now on, no more talk of money.”

Keith Wycliffe grumbled, “If we can’t give her money, can’t we at least help her vent some anger? That guy from the Cross family bullied her, and the more I think about it, the angrier I get. I can barely hold it in.”
