Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 3

Two in the morning, the Cross Estate.

“Damn it. They can’t trace who made the police report. This wasn’t some random passerby; someone was targeting us, and they have a top-tier hacker covering their tracks.”-

Marie’s eyes were cold and dark. She had never been so humiliated in her entire life.

Victoria stood by, trying to soothe her. “Marie, don’t worry. Whoever it was, the Cross family will not let them get away with it. We’ve already taken care of things at the police station. The story won’t leak, but we’ll have to be more careful from now on.”

Darren was silent, his face grim. He’d probably had a rough time at the station, too ashamed to reveal his identity.

“You’re back. Was there a problem at the office? What happened that required a trip to the police station in the middle of the night?”

Natalie’s voice was smooth, a warm smile on her face. She greeted him just as she always did when he came home.

But for once, Darren, the man who always held his head so high, seemed unable to meet her gaze.

He muttered darkly, “It’s company business. You wouldn’t understand.”

Just like his mother.

“You’re right, Darren, I don’t understand business. But rushing to the police station at this hour must mean something serious happened. Is it something you can’t tell me about?”

Her words stung like a whip cracking across Darren’s face.

Marie stepped in front of Darren, her sharp, upturned eyes looking down on Natalie with disdain. “We’re in the middle of securing a partnership with the Fairchild family, one of the four founding families of Eldoria City. I had nearly closed the deal, but a corporate spy sabotaged our efforts. We were cooperating with a police investigation. This is highly confidential. Would you understand any of it? Or perhaps you have what it takes to root out the traitor yourself?”

Marie’s tone was haughty and aggressive. Normally, Natalie would have been shamed into silence, feeling inadequate and guilty.

But now, she found it utterly ridiculous. Here was the woman who was caught having sex in a car with her husband, now standing before her, the wife, and spouting lies with such righteous indignation.
