Natalie finally understood why Hanley had suddenly shown up.
“Hanley, so you came here today just to threaten me. Aren’t you afraid you’ll actually fall?”
Hanley flinched at her words. He had no intention of jumping; his grandmother had just told him he was his mother's weak spot.
His aunt had also said that sometimes you had to use extreme measures to get what you want. And that's what he was doing now.
“Mommy, if you really love me and care about me, you’ll see that I’m in danger and agree to my request instead of holding onto old grudges. If you really care about me, you’ll release Auntie. As soon as you let her go, I’ll get down from here.”
“So, this is all about Marie.”
“Mommy, I won’t lie to you. As long as you free Auntie, I’ll come down, and in the future…”
“There is no future.”
“What?”
“If you’ll only come down on the condition that your aunt gets out of prison, then you might as well stay up there.”
“Mommy, what does that mean? Are you determined to see Auntie destroyed?”
“I don’t want to destroy her. But I have no power to get her released for the crimes she committed. You’re overestimating me.”
Hanley couldn’t believe it. He was sitting on the railing, and his mother still refused to spare his aunt. “Mommy, aren’t you afraid I’ll fall from here?” he yelled. “Do you really have to ruin her to be satisfied?”
Terence’s gaze turned icy. “And do you have to break your mother’s heart? If you don’t understand the crimes Marie committed, I can take you to the courthouse. I can have the police explain it to you. But you can’t wake someone who’s pretending to be asleep. If you refuse to believe it, anything I say is pointless.”
His voice grew several shades colder.
“Hanley, you care about your aunt, but remember that your mother is someone we care about. We will not stand by and watch you hurt her like this. Get down now.”
Terence moved forward, intending to pull Hanley down. Hanley panicked. “Don’t come near me! Stay back! If you come any closer, I’ll jump!”
In his frantic attempt to scare them off, Hanley lost his balance and fell backward.
Natalie lunged forward, trying to grab his hand. But she was just a fraction of a second too late. Hanley’s hand slipped right through her grasp.
He plummeted before her very eyes.
“Hanley!”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
