Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 57

"Darren, I'm leaving with nothing and giving you full custody of our son. From now on, we owe each other nothing."

Natalie looked at Darren, her gaze distant and devoid of any warmth.

All that had passed, she just wanted a clean break.

Natalie's decisiveness was like a knife twisting in Darren's heart.

He couldn't bring himself to believe that the Natalie who had loved him so desperately would ever turn her back on him.

Onlookers whispered among themselves.

"Natalie completely destroyed Darren, so why isn't she taking half his assets or fighting for custody? Instead, she's leaving with nothing and giving him the child."

"That just shows how determined she is to get this divorce."

Charles Fairchild's voice boomed, "Darren, everyone knows I have a short temper. Sign these papers now, and I'll consider the matter closed. Otherwise, you'd better go home and count your assets, because I doubt you can withstand the full wrath of the Fairchild family!"

Marie leaned in and whispered to Darren, "Just sign it. The Cross Group can't afford such a massive penalty right now. It would bankrupt us."

Darren clenched his jaw so hard it ached. He was in agony, yet her expression remained perfectly serene. He never thought she could deal him such a fatal blow, nor that she had the means to force him into a divorce.

"Natalie, you got what you wanted. You'd better not regret this."

Darren signed the divorce papers, and no one noticed the redness rimming his eyes.

He would make her come back, crying and begging him to take her back.

Charles Fairchild quickly secured the signed papers. "Regret? You're delusional. Anyone would be booking the fastest flight possible to get away from scum like you."

Several people in the crowd stifled chuckles. The normally stern and serious Old Mr. Fairchild had a surprisingly sharp sense of humor.

"My girl, let's go."

Natalie nodded slightly. Escorted by Old Mr. Fairchild and his team of bodyguards, she left the venue with an air of undeniable grandeur.

It was only then that people noticed a certain quality about Natalie—the poised, understated yet formidable aura of a lady from a high-society family.

"Why did you give up custody of your son? I know that must have been a very difficult decision for a mother."

Old Mr. Fairchild knew she must have had her reasons for voluntarily giving up custody.

After all, she had been preparing to take the boy with her for a long time.

And she had surely endured so much for the child's sake.

"They talk about raising my son to be their heir, but all they do is brainwash him. Now, my son sees that woman as his real mother. He doesn't want to come with me, and I can't stand to be in the Cross family a moment longer. Giving up custody was my only choice."

When she was injured and Hanley had shown no concern, she finally understood. Hanley would never choose to leave with her.

She couldn't stay in that house a second longer.

Nor could she compromise her own dignity for her son's sake, pretending that she didn't know anything.

"Natalie, it's never a mistake to fall in love when you're young. And it's never a mistake to let go of something when you've matured. You've suffered too much in the past. From now on, all that matters is that you live a happy life for yourself."
